When you get that engine running or hook your impact to that transmission nut do so while holding fine sandpaper around the axles to polish them, THEN, put ANTI-SEIZE on the axles B4 you install the wheels, it took me 2 years of soaking the gap between a tractor wheel hub & axle before I could get the wheels off, they DON'T put ANTI-SEIZE on them axles during assembly and most wheels rust onto the axles
Numa Newbern, Thank you for stopping by & adding some good tips to this video. I do not know what happened to my original reply? But it went like This : "Great minds think alike" LOL I had a Montgomery Ward s rider that had a few small air leaks. When I went to put a tube in I could not get the wheel off no matter what I used. The heat I had was only propane, but I used several lubricants plus my own mix of transmission fluid & mineral spirits. Soak for several days tried the heat several ties but a no go. I ended up breaking a clip on the axle inside the ( by banging on the rim) that caused the axle & wheel to to pull out while mowing, then having to stop & push them back in. Got a few laughs while mowing. Anyway I had to split the tranny replace the clip. While the axle was off I still could not remove that wheel. Maybe if I had acetylene with the additional heat I would be able to remove it. I always cleaned any axle I removed a wheel from & added grease but now I will remove wheels that have been on for awhile clean the axle & use the anti seize to prevent this from happening again. Did you get a jerk and jerk it back over into reverse and right at the present time I can it’ll go forward you’ll go on all the speeds so I’m crossing my fingers. Also, I watched your video and I enjoyed it. I can’t understand you and it’s clearly so have a nice weekend and thanks.

Hi, I pulled and locked the disengage, and the rear tires are locked. Craftsman with an 18hp motor. The rear wheels are locked. This mover ran great for yrs, it started up went 15ft, then backfired hard out of carb. Now it is a problem to get it to my heay tools Junk it,,,,,or .....give it a chance?
I recently go a Lowe’s model 42517 from my deceased father. I have no neutral over ride leaver in the rear to get it to roll. It has a met way hole like yours on left but I see a push rod on your mower on left. How can I unlock this mower. Great video!
Thank you for visiting my channel. Without seeing this mower it is hard to be specific. Some models do not have this lever, they roll when in neutral. I would first check underneath to see if the belts are frayed & possibly tangled. If not check the pullies, they may be frozen with debris or rust from sitting. You did not say much about the pin in the back that disengages the transmission. Mine used to work but cannot move it any longer on my Craftsman lawnmower, This mower is well taken care of, cleaned after each use and maintained and covered, so I don't think it is rusted or crud, The wheels turn and it works fine except for the fact that we can no longer disengage the trans in order to push or pull it easily. What do you think it is? There are no You Tube videos that I can find on the subject and you seem to know what you are doing, : 😀
Sorry for the late reply. My computer came in contact with the garden hose about 9 days ago. I tried everything I heard of & could think about. Nothing worked. I have the back of it opened, attached a USB keyboard & have to disconnect the original key board once it is powered on. Just sharing. It would have made a good DIY video. (what NOT to do, what to do & what worked LOL) May still make a video if I venture on changing the org keyboard myself, it is a laptop. I will be sharing this with other comment reply as well. Back to your question, even though you take better care of it then most of what I come into contact with the lever where it connects to the transmission may still be hung up. If that is not the case the problem will be in the transmission case itself. This is not the hardest job but it will take time & patience. Check that lever & the connection first it is a good possibility that that is where issue is. Let me know what you find. Stay safe, Joe Z

I do not have one I can look at to direct you as to what to check. I reached out & asked for information. Meanwhile look at the linkages to see if anything is binding , missing or disconnected. It may be a simple fix, just not sure without having one to look at. If I get one in or any information I will get back to you. Stay well, Joe Z
I forgot to mention this before check to see if it has a variable pully. If so check if it is stuck. Sometimes the bearing in them seize. These suggestions were just sent to me: Check the shift linkage. Also the parking brake sometimes locks up. If the wheels are locked, there is something binding. Shift cable may have frayed or rusted in place. Since it will be up in the air to fully check this, may as well check that the brake isn't stuck and the belt is correct. Let me know if this helped you out. Joe Z
@@JOEZEP54 Thanks Joe! I found another video on the shift linkage and making sure the adjustment nut on it was good, and as far as i can tell it is. Hi, I have a Murray tractor mower that is 14 years old and the right rear wheel is locked. I removed the wheel, cleaned the brakes out, removed the rust and greased it, and still cannot get the right rear wheel to spin forward or backwards. I also tried to remove the brake disk to get to the break pad behind it but the disk will not budge or spin. I have been servicing my own mower for years but there's still a lot I don't know. I can't figure out where the problem is coming from. The mower is in neutral and parking brake is off. It was working fine last week. Can you give me any suggestions as to what it could be? Thanks!
Thank you for visiting & your question. I had several that I did just what you said and this did the trick for some and others what I did in this video worked. Still a few none of the previous methods worked. I am not 100% sure but it may be that the lubricant whether it was an oil or a type of grease is low or just caked up. If you can still find the model & serial # call MTD & ask what was used in this. If oil try adding some. But more than likely you will have to open it up. May just need a cleaning & lubricant added. There may be a screen in there that is clogged or you may need to replace a gear or two. I did not upload any of the work I did on the transmissions due to time factor but there are a few on YT that are very good.
