It's extraordinary that you're doing this because there really isn't a video about it. Even though you're still a small channel. Keep up the good work!

Awesome video! Maybe it could be nice to have a video about how far we can push Nanite, especially with foliage. Like how many triangles are acceptable for trees and vegetation/rock in general. Something like that, because now it seems that people with Nanite want to place countless things in the level.

@@aimogiavazziart that’s a great idea! I’m planning on having an optimization series soon so I can definitely cover that :)

Amazing video man. I feek like youtube is flooded with "beginner" tutorials so having something like this for mid-advanced users is really cool.
I know this wasnt covered in the tutoral but i always struggle with shadows on my thin foliage like grass for example in the disrance. How can you prevent shadows from culling in extreme distances. For example take your scene and if you out a big hill in the background you would still like to see some grass there.

Hello, how would you color the grass so the grass appears in different colors of grass patches?

hey! there are a couple ways! you could do a "per instance random" node in the material with 3 different overlay colors going into a lerp3. This would randomly select the overlay per foliage instance. You can use the speedtree color variation node with very low values, or you can make a world tiling noise mask and lerp between the original color and a overlayed color using the mask as the alpha. Hope that helps!
