Secrets Of Luminaria | Kitbash 3D
I was given the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Kitbash3D for their official release of their brand new kit Secrets Of Luminaria. Majority of the assets you see in this render are from Kitbash, aside from the rocks.

A common practice in asset creation is using trim sheets and tilling textures when dealing with modular assets. A problem we run into is adding unique details to these assets. Best Fix for Ugly Shadows | Unreal Engine 5.1 / 5.2

Over the last couple months I have seen seeing a lot of artists use fixes that are now outdated, and lead to artistic sacrifices. This video shows the newest fix that will 1. not semi permanently affect the nanite mesh. and 2. Fix the shadows without causing other issues. everything great except you didnt explain those pasted nodes, so no use for me
Hi, thanks for the video! In 5.3, I have a glowing object with a glow effect that is not displayed on objects that are next to it! Do you know what can help?
Finally! Some real schnizz. Thanks man
how do you klick and stuff appear? Edit: I found out. You're a legend
interesting one, and i see you are still active! You got a new follower!
Very cool Daniel! Great work.
Thanks for this, was amazing to watch the ugly shadows melt away the second I entered that first console command. Almost made the landscape I got from the marketplace perfect. Now would love to hear how to fix the weird shadows on foliage, specifically moving foliage. I'm guessing its something to do with WPO. Anyway great job!
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you!
Well if you using VTs for masks you could take an advantage of having UDIM's and have less materials at the end.
perfect explanation!
Anyone know where Actor Placement Mode went in UE 5.4?
Great overview video, thx for sharing this Daniel!
Great session, learned alot I am having a douth Can we use this neutral Light scene setup for rendering a assets ?
Does the video have audio? I can't hear your voice
It Does, but there was an issue with my mic so it only comes out the left speaker 🙃 i solved it so future videos wont have this issue
top
Sometimes when I edit a packed level actor it explodes after I exit the edit. It's like the position on some of the meshes is getting changed. When I go back into edit mode everything is in the correct place. Any idea how to fix that?
Not sure why this happens or how to prevent it, but seems that deleting the actor from the level and re-placing it fixes the issue.
Have you encounter an issue where a level you pack comes into the level missing meshes, but when you edit they are all there? I'm kitbashing a market place asset, and wondering if there is something setup with these assets that is causing that to happen?
I figured this out. Some of the actors are BPs, and they are creating SMs or repositioning them. The BPs don't function inside the packed level (I think because they're getting instanced). So it looks like you shouldn't pack BP actors, only SMs.
Though it appears it will also mess up the the transform of meshes sometimes; might be from packing, breaking, then packing again.
I can't find the asset placement plugin, did it get renamed? I'm running 5.4
Did you find it?
In 5.4.2 the Editor craches after enabling the actor pallet and then trying to open actor pallete 1. To bad :(
I’ve been noticing that! I’m looking into this to find a solution. Seams to be crashing for me when I convert a project to the latest version of unreal
Hello @Daniel ! thank you for the video. As i am using unreal 5.0.3, there is no "Make Current Folder" appearing in the contextual menu at 17:10 when right-cliking on a folder. And there is no checkbox about it in the "Level Editor" when i open the "Editor Preferences". that's a pity !
It is! I’m going to be making an updated video for the current version since so much has changed.
thanks!
Just saying mate, glad you are back. Your previous videos were really helpful. So if you have the time available. I hope you will be able to make more content! Cheers mate!
I love you.
May know why my landscape grass doesn't cast a shadow. Thank you
Hi Daniel, great video! Would be nice to see the building of the mill as well (how you use the different assets, scaling, placing, etc).
Great suggestion! I’m going to be active once again with my videos so I will add that to the list
Hi, Daniel.I made that Material but Multiply received the EROR error :((
I didn’t know so many useful tips in ue5 modeling tool. Thanks for sharing the hack to speed up work!
Physical sunlight is 128.000 lux. 31400 has nothing to do with a physically based sun. Using Pi for the sunlight seems like something grabbed out of the ass. You should look into the Sunny 16 rule if you want to work with physical values.
Hello! thanks for the advice. Direct Sunlight is measured between 32,000 - 120,000 LUX in this case the value I decided on more has to do with getting a good even value across the surface of the grey ball for neutral lighting in the context of using physical camera exposure. If i was setting up lighting scenarios i would definitely be using values to match the scenario (ie noon lighting, golden hour etc) . I am in the process of creating an updated version of this tutorial since there are many new tools and ways to set this type of scene up that i want to share with everyone that make more sense. Cheers!
Rad, thanks for this.
Thanks for the lovely tutorial. Somehow 'Actor Hidden In Game' doesnt hide it for me. I have tried it in multiple projects. Can you please help?
Hey! Seeing this now! Stay tuned as I am reworking this tutorial with a more up to date version :)
@@DanielLanghjelm Probably because this doesn't work with Hardware Raytracing.
@@Cloroqx oh no it definitely does! I actively use this method in production. It’s just the way I did it in this tutorial is outdated, I am remaking this tutorial with updated methods
@@DanielLanghjelm Really? I've messed around with this in 5.3 and it stopped working every time I turned on Lumen Hardware RT.
Learnt a whole tonne of stuff Much thanks for making this technical stuff pretty beginner friendly
thank you man❤
Great tutorial! Do you know a way I can make these elements invisible in reflections? With my current setup looking into a window I can see all the additional geometry with these shaders applied. This is even when they are hidden in game.
Currently I have not! It’s been bugging the hell out of me but it is tied to hardware raytracing which makes sense as any light that has specular intensity will have a similar effect
Use a masked material and set the opacity mask of the emissive sphere to 0.
5years later so many systems epic still not show how make simple plank generator with variantion, fuck ue5
yaaaaaasss!!!!!
Wah! Just finished the whole video, took me 2 days :) This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!
Awesome tutorial! Using this method helps to alleviate the noisiness of emissive lights, of course with final gathering turned all the way up.
is this only when using ray traced shadows? ray tracing
I hope you have learned to handle your audio volume in other videos you may create, this was way too low.
cool for look-dev, thanks dude
thank you mate! quick and easy fix for the glitch of the decade
Thank you for all your great Tutorials ! Amazing
Is it a way to make it work this setup with Path Tracing? Why I get totally black scene with that rendering method?
Such a top notch content and high quality tutorial! Thank you!
There are so many tools that i've never heard about just a year ago, and now i feel like god mastering Scriptable Geometry, Modeling Tools, Editor Utility Widgets and Blueprints, PCG and now actor palette. Thought of Python scripting but that's probably too much lmao i have to focus on those i listed, thank you for the vid it's crazy helpful
Amazing tut, thanks!
Thank you!
I learned A LOT. Thank you very much.
great vid. i needed those cvars for other stuff so this is great
