I think these particular English words are really cute. This version is very adorable. Bravo and brava. ^____^ I didn't realize until now that the show itself is presumably called "The Manga Flute". Not just the video. This is a *different* children's and families' version. I think they didn't have this one yet when I was a kid. So cute. 😍
They seem somehow more friends with each other than in most versions too. Perhaps it's because it's for the children but they do really act like they actually like each other and care about each other (not just acting like lovers or people who are dating or whatever). The tenor's voice is excellent! Love the rich timbre to his voice! Makes me think hes more baritone than tenor. Either way, those two have great chemistry together! Great performance!

He originally wrote The Magic Flute in German so it could be understandable to the general public. How dare an Opera be accessible to the general public and not in a foreign language! How despicable for an art form that is already deemed inaccessible to the masses to be suddenly more accessible! I am horrified and disgusted!

There are numerous English translations of Schikaneder's German libretto.Some of the older(19thC) ones have fallen out of favour as they sound dated.
