What is one small thing you can do today to help another follower of Jesus? One small thing you can do today to help another follower of Jesus is to listen attentively to them without judgment or interruption. Sometimes, people just need someone to talk to, to share their burdens, joys, or struggles. By being a compassionate listener, you can provide support and understanding, showing them the love of Christ through your empathy and presence.
THAT IS SO TRUE. AS WE SPEND TIME IN GOD'S S, PRESENCE OUR QUIT TIME OUR PRESENCE AMONG HURTING PEOPLE CAN SOOTHE AND COMFORT THEM EVEN IF WE DON'T SAY ANYTHING. EXCELLENT POINT❤❤❤
Parts of what Jesus says here are very serious words that apply to all Christians. He says that "whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me...and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. He also says that anyone who denies me before others I will deny before my Father in heaven." The words of Jesus in Matt 10 is like thunder and lightning, it is like a fiery tempest. When Jesus says anyone He means anyone. "Those who find their life will lose it," He says. I find that statement so serious, far reaching, and 'mysterious' that clearly more time is needed to study and proclaim it. What does Jesus mean, "those who find their lives."? When Jesus uses the words, 'everyone, and whoever, in the latter part from verse 32, it is undeniable that this part concers all Christians. I think it was Reinard Bonnke who once told the story od a oyung girl at a meeting who wavered about becoming a christian because he didn't want to lose her boyfriend. I think it was the next day she died. And that's terrible. If you are a young woman and you want to become a christian and give your life to Jesus, yet, wavers because you don't want to lose your boyfriend, Be careful. When Jesus says anyone whoever loves father or mother etc more than me can be extended to boyfriends. Some women risk their spiritual life because they love their husbands/boyfriends more than Jesus.
Wonderful study. Concise, easy to understand, and very informative. I love the application after you’ve interpreted it in such a meaningful way. I studied this chapter today, and as the second and shortest of Matthew’s five discourses, there’s so much to unpack about being a true, committed disciple! God bless you brother, I send my prayers for you and your ministry.
i’ve heard that by cup of *cold* water he did mean to put effort into what you give. because in the climate they were in, cold water wasn’t so easy to get
Perhaps I can give you some clarity. Jesus haven’t left yet, and the disciples returned before He left, He is probably talking in the broader sense, meaning that our work will never be finished and will still be busy with preaching the gospel until He returns. He is not saying that He would be back before the trouble started but that he would be back before the work is done (before we need to stop preaching).

Matthew 10:23 is troubling me because isn’t he saying that he would be back before the disciplines were met with the trouble of being killed etc

Is this passage specifically for the Jews and not us gentiles?
