thanks for the close ups of the front end. it seems odd to me though, almost a step backwards for Jan. on his custom 2019 kona setup he had a similar between the arms, custom thing, but that also had what looked to be a seperate storage unit for gels or something. It had 2 different straws if i remember right, so he could have had 2 different drink options with gel or water ect.. on this setup he has just the intergrated water tank in the frame, plus seat and downtube cages. doesnt look like anywhere else for him to store his stuff. Still extremely nice but i think the 2019 setup looked more user friendly and cool.
There wasn’t a second straw, only one. Sebastian Kienle got 2 straws in his customized cockpit. You don’t need the extra storage in the front. The whole bike is definitely a step forward in terms of aerodynamic and adjustability.
what is up with the continuity errors? The Wahoo device kept changing from being all black to having some pink electrical tape wrapped around it. 0:19 and 0:52 = all black 1:34 - 3:02 and 3:39 = pink
Hello GTN...I was wondering if that "custom" arm configuration set-up was ever made available to the general public?....I have looked online but have not seen anything like that. I am surprised that no company has jumped on that obvious design yet and brought it to market....???
Is 170mm Crank length odd for someone as tall as Jan? I have a size small road and tri bike both came stock with 170mm seems odd Jan would have that short of cranks but I'm no expert with tech.
I still don't get the thought process of disc brakes on a TT or Tri bike, for years and years they have been saying you need to tape up every bolt, hide every cable then they go and stick a F off disc on it! 🤷♂️ I understand it for road or mountain bikes but not these
I think the performance gains from the wheels (stifness, tyre integration and such) going from rim brakes to discs outweigh the loss in aerodynamics. Not sure though
Sram axs is on the heavy side compared to the old, disc brakes, but who knows what the hydration system weighs. So not that unreasonable for the hydration weight.
I may be too old, or may be wrong, but I can believe that people really believe that Jan has got a better carreer than Mark Allen's, no way I can believe that Jan is better than The Grip himself.
Since there is no sports time machine , each was the best of their time . Like Tom Brady playing in Johnny Unitas's time, Tom would get killed back then . Unitas would be playing in his mid 40's if playing today .
All the pros have bikes that cost this much. Plus a lot of the upgrades don’t make him necessarily faster. Also in many races he finished second or third in the bike leg and then he killed it in the run. He is the greatest not because of his bike.
this price is waaaay off if you talking about how much it did cost for canyon to setup this bike costum for jan. just thought about the engineering costs behind the one of a kind stuff? the hours in wind tunnel etc? the prototypes? puuuh 💸💸💸
5000-10.000€ for the cockpit? I think you need to put at least another factor of 10 in it. Think wind tunnel testing, think engineering hours. It would be 5-10k if ONE engineer would have worked on it for ONE month. There is zero chance that's the case. If 3 people worked at it for 3 months, which would be a really short time, we are already at least at 50k. I think they disclosed Patrick Lange's Cockpit from 2018 or so to cost 120.000. And this looks a lot more complicated.
5k for the cockpit? That 3d printing looks terrible! I could do the 3d scan with open-source software and an iPhone and print it for less than $30. But if you want to write me a check for 5k, I'll send you my info.
Being a "pro" had it's advantages. They get all the excellent stuff for free while us schmucks have to pay being bucks for decent equipment. Almost doesn't seem fair.
I am ready to put down my savings on a "water bottle" as it seems the only thing a normal person can afford from that bike.
I have to confess: the mono grip reminds me on something completely different 🤗
😌
Hey what about Taylor Knibb's Road bike? She did have the fastest bike in Collins Cup. At least its attainable for us mere mortals :) he he he
I think her bike is still at least $10k
@@neon-3467 12k EUR for the stock model, without pedals and any customizations

And disc brakes 😂
I’m sure it’s all tested for Jans needs. Not a downgrade for sure
Might have found that he didn't use it and wanted to save the weight. There's only so many gadgets you need on a bike to complete an IM
@@gregoryspeakman9411 sure, but this bike is heavier than the last speedmax.

Nothing like dropping a cool $65CAD on a fast water bottle!
I really thought you'd be taking it for a spin - until the price tag ... xD
Cool, I really like the Pitot tube integration 🧐
I'll take one with fries... and one large coke...
Diet Coke, we are triathletes after all, haha
ah ah ah
When his chain cost more than your whole bike
I don’t think anyone would’ve minded if you just took it on a quick spin 😂 You guys are about the same size
what is up with the continuity errors? The Wahoo device kept changing from being all black to having some pink electrical tape wrapped around it.
0:19 and 0:52 = all black
1:34 - 3:02 and 3:39 = pink
it was filmed in different spots
The new Wahoo arrived halfway through filming 😂
I use the same Elite bottle on my Giant Propel 😬
Very nice. A dream bike for sure. I would have liked to see you take it for a ride. Even some car presenters take Lamborghini's for a spin.
Not when the lambo is literally made out of gold and is of the president of the USA 😂

Wow that 3d printed centre section looks rough up close. They would be trying hard to make that cost as much as 5000 euros.
Agree. I make way better prints on my Ender 3 for 200$. This looks shit.
Probably paying for the r&d, service of fitting it custom, and propriety tech. Not the print itself
Jan is such a nerd, love it
Not completely.....the maurten sticker covers some of the dimples
@@robbo3132 doesn’t matter at all
Yeah, when I heard he has different psi front and back, I knew he had scientific thinking on his side, its great 👍👍
Lucy's bike please!!
You forgot about golden bolts
before making the monocoque available, make the bike available first :))
with that intro song, I thought I was watching another Tim The Tatman video - huge nerd alert.... I'll take that bike though!
My gf told me to sell my old Mercedes and buy a used G-Wagon, I sent her this video fingers crossed boys
Even the g.o.a.t 's bike looks like a goat
Alpha bike for sure

Will he ride 30 times as fast as i do on a cube attain?
How do forearm rests compare to traditional elbow rests?
They're just a tad on the gayer side.
Faster!
how is the handlebar on that bike?!:)
12K costs complete bike. Not the "frame".
Printed cockpit is 2.5-3.0K.
What is comfortable for Jan doesn't have to be good for others.
Why you got Tim the tattman’s outro music???
Hope you have filmed many pro bikes 😀
Without seeing the entire video, I would think that chain probably costs as much as my home trainer bike...
Brb, just gonna quickly sell my kidney
Anyone know the brand of the bike stand?
It’s a Topeak stand
@@markthrelfall3577 Thanks! It looked so sleek at 7:49, but I now realize you had it folded up in order to do the weight check 🤦♂️
That cockpit is the best looking I’ve seen.

How many olympic gold medals do you have to win and sell on ebay to get that money back?
How much road bike
I wonder how much faster this is compared to a normal aeroad without aerobars :-)
Yeah me too. Probably a lot.
Really nice bike. But the Quality of the 3d printed part is really bad.
He is 194, correct? And he still ride L size? Sure it’s not XL?
Nope definitely L. I’m 188 and on a medium actually

10.5 kg for 26k Euros ???? Im happy with my Boardman Team TT custom for 3k with only 8.6 kg
2 kilograms lighter but 20 watts slower 😂 good job
@@o11378 2 kg's lighter that means i have to produce less watts and use less energy to get same speed. Now think if i put extra 20watts on top ;)
@AnonymousUser thats exactly my point, because my bike 3 times cheaper and almost 2kg lighter. Cant go wrong with that can you?
10.6 kg is heavier than I thought the bike would be. I know I know aero over weight but I live in a valley.
Is that with the stock integrated tool kit?
How he make money to bought a bike such that?
He didn’t buy it. Canyon clearly sponsors him and probably pays him to use this bike.
10.5 kg that’s a tank
Weight is not important on a TT Bike...
Sram axs is on the heavy side compared to the old, disc brakes, but who knows what the hydration system weighs. So not that unreasonable for the hydration weight.

"that belongs in a museum" - Indiana Jones
Wonder how much time a middle aged shlub like me would save taking it out the local amateur olympic distance race.
Why scan his forearms in the first place if its then all padding? That sounds like marketing BS to sell unnecessarily customized products.
If the pros use it successfully, then they know we'll buy it to be just like....and shave a few watts off our time.
So you don't get pressure points in the foam
Be great to see all the pros compete on the exact same bike, see how good Frodeno is when he doesn't have a bike worth 40k euros to help him

The 3D-printed part is not well made. First FDM printing is the wrong manifacturing technique for this purpose. And it's just noch clean there..
My "climbing bike" weighs as much as this. Man fuck
You can get the speedmax as low as 3500$
