This was the first time in my life that I cheered against a MN team (I'm over 50 & it's my home state). Granted, I'm a victim of "Clark Effect" and have come to appreciate the Fever team, so I would have cheered for them regardless of who the Lynx coach was, but Reeves made it VERY easy for me to be thrilled with a Fever win. VERY disappointed in how she conducts herself.

My thoughts exactly!! What amazes me about these WNBA players and even these grown women coaching in the WNBA is their lack of awareness. Nobody watched the league’s games for the last 25 years. They’ve relied on the men’s league’s charity. Now the league lands this once in a lifetime type player that moves the meter and catches eyeballs. Yet these dummies want to keep her down and let their jealousy get the best of them. Sad

I agree, the coaching seems to be the problem in the league. Most players have displayed sportsmanship to the rookies. Only a few were either angry or jealous. That's true in any sport. The game has come a long way. I've followed and have never followed the NBA I think the fact that Caitlin broke 50 plus year Maravich scoring record is the reason she draws enormous attention. Good for entire league.
Clark is the first WNBA rookie to post 400+ points, 150+ assists, and 100+ rebounds in a season. Basically, the best all-around rookie of all time, and there are still at least 15 more games to go.

“Coach” Sides decided to slow down the game. Clark looked frustrated at the beginning of the game. Clark dribbled up past half line, pass and then go stand far away from ball.
No pick/roll, no movement and no fast breaks!
Lynx is injured, shorthanded but Fever slow down the game to favor Lynx. 🤦♂️
4th quarter Clark took over and started running and played pick/roll. More screens which opened up passing lanes and open shots/layups. 🤷♂️
Agree - Kelsey Mitchell has just killed it in the final quarters of the recent games and is balling. Mitchell didn't shoot well either, but she lit it up when it was critical along with Caitlin.

Yup, and it's not like Clark has never played internationally for TeamUSA; in fact she did it 3 times and won gold all 3 times with the junior national team, and was tourney MVP her last time (summer after her freshman yr at Iowa).

You asked for Reeve's postgame comments relating to Clark; there actually wasn't much cuz she wasn't directly asked about Clark's game, but there were a couple of opportunities to talk about it and here's what she said:
- When asked basically about why the Fever did so well in the 4th qtr, she didn't mention Clark at all (even though Clark was responsible for 15 of the Fever's 28 pts in the 4th), but instead only cited 2 "end of shot clock" 3s from Mitchell & Samuelson that they didn't guard well enough.
- A question was asked about the game atmosphere, and she actually did give credit to Clark (not for her game but popularity instead), saying "everyone knows" the reason teams are selling out some games is when Clark and the Fever come to town. I do wonder if she said this for some damage control for her pregame comments:
Before the game, Reeve was asked about Clark's presence likely attracting a lot of fans to their arena, and supposedly 'joking' response was "I don't give two shits" and when asked to elaborate, she added "I don't give one shit" - I get her not wanting to praise Clark, but perhaps she could've had a more welcoming message to new fans showing up to their home game?!?

@@michelleblanc6377 What Caitlin should do if asked to join the Olympic team is to politely decline and say she is a bit too worn out from all of the games she has played since last fall. Then she can go home and work on her game some more and get stronger for the final push down the stretch to the end of the season. CC will have many Gold medals in her career this is not an imperative, I am looking long term and right now CC does need the rest to recharge and be that much more better down the stretch.
I doubt CC would decline. It would be against her dreams and she would likely feel to decline would be dishonorable if invited.

What truly disappoints me is that she was an assistant coach with my Detroit Shock (now Dallas Wings) who won 3 out of 4 championships. To hear her say what she said about the fans really disturbed me.
Also it's one thing to say what she said before the game towards players, though still wrong and distasteful, they can take it. But for an Olympic head coach and head coach in a league who for decades has been struggling for recognition and respect disrespect fans, some who shelled out big dough to be there, filling up TC, at least to me, was tasteless and unacceptable.

17pts, assist, rebounds, she definitely contributed to the win. CC is a rookie who is already silky smooth. She will only get bigger, tougher, and more proficient.
The fever are starting to realize what a gem they have in CC, who has spent the first part of her professional career making them all look good with her passing and other playmaking skills that contribute to their stats. If they are smart, they will continue ride the CC wave all the way to the championship as a cohesive unit. I'd also like to say, for the record that I've never in my life watched a WNBA game until CC made it to the league.
Sides cause the stagnant offense by having Mitchell run the point and having them run a setup style offense.
Imagine Caitlin Clark at Golden State Valkyrie next year with a new coach and new teammates built around her in addition to an organization that fully supports her and extremely loyal…CC will win 10 championships! 💯💯💯

Ok new basketball fans CC was Ice Out by Sides. She benched CC for 5 mins in the 2nd. Then she brought Wheeler in to run point and Wheeler is Terrible. After that CC never got the ball shooting twice in the 2nd half.

If the WNBA wants to know why they weren’t marketable and more popular look no further than the Lynx coach toxic attitude and the total incompetence of Fever coach Sides and GM Dunn. They win when they play modern basketball and have CC at the point - but they don’t understand modern basketball so they literally want CC to stand in the corner and slow the game down. Whenever they play that dinosaur ball they lose. Whenever they let CC run the point and play fast - the entire team plays better.
The Fever show the WORST type of coaching and management in sports - you don’t maximize your players you know 1 system to coach and you just force players into your system that doesn’t work and doesn’t maximize any of their skills - it’s just the only thing you as the coach know how to do. That’s mismanagement and horrible coaching.
The Fever organization is an embarrassment to modern basketball. They have no idea what they are doing and we see why that team has been so putrid for so long.
If an NBA coach tried to play Steph Curry at power forward and decided to make Shaq to pick and pops they would look bad too. That’s literally how badly the Fever are being coached - it’s not just bad it’s beyond comical at this point. Then to watch Sides throw the players under the bus cause they won’t play dinosaur ball and lose.
Whenever they play the way sides wants they lose. Even in games it kills them and the momentum. The Fever are trying to justify bad contracts, poorly constructed roster, and a refusal to play modern basketball that makes the skill sets of their players better and matches their abilities. Rather just blindly run your system that’s never worked and is outdated for highschool basketball at this point.

the league has gone unnoticed, unscrutinized until this season, and it was allowed to turn into what is essentially a nursery school. coaches making cracks on rookies, players crying about double-doubles, ridiculously bad playcalling... once money enters into it, you'll see some professional coaches turn it around.
