Honestly one of the best osrs boss releases. They nailed the bosses mechanics for mid level, made it rewarding without flooding the game with loot and devaluing other items. They also made new weapons that dont have any power creep, or effect the game much. Very, very well done.
Just got back into the game after leaving my pure account inactive for a couple yrs and I'm base 70/75 combat stats now with no prior PVM experience and this boss is SO much fun. I got the mace thrown together after an 8 kc spine and I'm enjoying the fight so much. Hitting quite high. Lotsa dopamine haha
Tbh scurrius is perfect for the mood I'm in currently with osrs. It is extremely chill yet engaging. I am the type that genuinely gets drained by bosses that require a lot of effort and have a lot of banking. Even before scurrius I had started preferring bosses that I only had to bank at a few times an hour. This is why I have 13k crazy archaeologist kc. I also feel that scurrius does a much better job than bosses like DKs for teaching the player prayer flicking, due to the stakes being low and the punishment for failure low you are more liable to actually get down the proper timing of perfectly flicking an attack. As well I am weirdly enamored by the non drop table, due to the drops mainly being supplies and alchables I am not as irritated when I'm killing him. Many bosses when rng does it's thing it can be irritating to be withheld a drop that you are due, but with scurrius' drops it is pretty much just paying for your time. Overall it is a great bridge for endgame content while also being a breath of fresh air to those of us with more time in the game.
Love your content style, and absolutely chuffed that you've been sticking it out and enjoying old school. Can't wait to see vids like this for all the new Varlamore content coming up!

I tried him today, he’s actually pretty decent imo, I’m learning how to prayer flick and switch with him and already got 7+ spines in like 115kc. The runes and arrows are nice for selling and once you get used to his mechanics u can stay down there for a while just grinding for lamps and stuff to sell/alch
I tried this boss at level 71 combat, tried melee with 60 attack and 60 strength, and with iban's staff with 66 magic. I could not keep up with him, I got the prayer swaps well, but the amount of healing he does is very hard to out damage at my current accuracy for both styles. I killed him once out of 3 attempts it was with melee.
You're at the bare minimum intended level for this boss. It's going to be great practice for mechanics but you gotta keep your expectations low until you get higher combat stats. If you get the spine I bet it'll be 110% worth doing for the xp
liquidated my main and just started a new, 99 crafting and max poh then quests and just started training melee. 55 attack and strength and going to farming this boss for pet and the xp up to around 70/ until warriors guild for defender, super chill boss with the right amount of engagement. glad they added a low to mid level training boss. very good idea.
Indeed, what alextal said. It averaged out after many kills to be 105k (adding both magic and defence together) Being the worst xp/hr style but still pretty solid

The best strat for you now if you are banking on XP is a mass. Hit at least 30 damage. It rolls deopls for everyone. I got 12 spines in 200 kills. No pet but thats only in solo.
@@-Arv it depends on how much damage you have done. if you have done very little damage, you wont get anything and if you have done a bunch of damage, then you will get your loot. it is impossible to get loot in popular worlds like 330 or 301 unless you got BIS and max stats
I think osrs really shines end game, I love the endgame. But it took me literal years to get there. I think it should be faster, not 99's in a week fast but maybe it takes 6 months to get to endgame without grinding 24/7 lol. So I am happy about increased rates.
You just alt + left click it to make it a purple beam while it's on the ground. As long as you have loot beams enabled on the ground items plug in of course.

But which game do you think is your “favourite” or at least which one is more fun to play? I’ve been thinking of trying to get back into RS but can’t decide which one to play?
They're both fun to play, but I've been trying out OSRS after 7.5 years of RS3 content and its been refreshing. Can play whichever you want, but for me currently I'm enjoying OSRS more (as i dont have much to do on rs3 until new content)
I got 3 spines in 30 kills. so i think its more common like 1 in 12 or 1 in 15... i could jsut be lucky though.. edit: I also am happy i just made my new hcim to play on the side lol.. perfect timing
Sample size is far too small to get an accurate rate right now. I averaged a bunch of samples from my twitch chat and such. I had 3 in 60 then didn't get a 4th until 120 and got a 5th at 130. It's probably 1/20-1/25 area I think, not too uncommon to see 3 in 30 kills if you're lucky or go 100 dry like another comment here if you're unlucky if it is the rate.

What are your stats? You shouldn't be taking any damage at all from the boss if you pray correctly, the only damage would be tiny chip damage from the small rats.

I thoroughly tested it on stream and if you actually take a proper look of the footage, I never had shared xp on except for magic which is 66% magic and 33% defence and showing 35k Def and 75k magic making 110k xp/hr lmao You can literally see my str xp and range xp on the side for those clips being far beyond 35k. I think you'll find your math is the thing that's shit here.

Its far from bis melee xp. Chally with nechs is 270k-320k for irons and bulwark with spec xfer alts for mains is like 400k per hour Edit: also dk at nightmare zone with dclaws is 180k. Its great training for midgame though
Jagex stated it would best xp around for mid game players and he references mid game players in the vid. It’s pretty clear what he was saying. Idk about but I don’t know any Lvl 50’s with Bulwark’s.

Worthless update in max str with ratbone i got 120k xp per hour i get better xp with salve ammy at ape atoll plus this is FAR less AFK will be dead by other then bots within a month

Doesn’t he only heal 3 times per kill? After that you can just kill him freely

Got just under 120kc on the 1def pure. I think I was getting maybe 135k str exp /hr using a scythe.

You can max over 200k str xp a hr at nmz with dharocks...you can get 125k with rapier and decent str gear lol

And yes xp rates are better with salve melee on a mid level then at the boss with a 15min afk..
