You are a great team. I just subscribed. Video reviews longer than a few minutes tend to be too long for me. Not the case here!

Thank you, one of these days I'll get her to help teach some games... maybe...

Thank you! Any video Sydnie joins me in is automatically better. I fully admit this :)

A coworker was a backer and just got his copy. Can't wait to get a chance to play it. I'm from the first edition days so it'll be interesting to see if the streamlined rules don't detract from the original feel.

I have a post on BGG for a more simultaneous game that makes it feel a bit more like classic but still keeping all the streamlining and upgraded components. boardgamegeek.com/thread/2734977/simultaneous-play

Great info! Got the Double Ace set myself, and have to ask: what are those clear card sleeve sheets you're using for the Internal Damage cards? Where'd you get 'em? I can't find a multi-card sleeve like that in the right size anywhere... thanks!

For the damage cards I'm using BCW mini American binder pages. The mini euro cards are a bit bigger though, so it's a "snug" fit. Good for cards that don't need to go in and out of the pages all that often. For a much better fit for the other cards I'm using Ultra Pro mini American sheets. MUCH looser fit and only a tiny bit of the card sticks out of the pockets, which makes it easier to get the cards in and out of the pages.

It'd a ton of fun and will trigged that feeling of, "Oh man! I want to try this next time. Lets play again!"

As an original player from the 1980s, it looks a massively different game from the original concept, and a very very simplified version. The cards seem to determine what you do rather making in game decisions. I get the build system with points, in the past it used to use "money", so you could campaign and almost roleplay the game (which myself and friends did). This seems to be a simple "arena" styled game only.
Is there any other options than the cars? There used to be trucks, bikes, boats, aircraft and even tanks. Different weapons have different ranges and accuracies (I presume this is done by which dice you pick up, the original used just off the shelf d6)
the game reminds me a lot of Battlecars system rather than the original Car Wars. And I'm not criticising the game goes the way people want to play. Though I do see the special dice and expansion packs as a cynical ploy into the CCG genre of milking money from the players.
I do find it disappointed that the best point of the game was reviewed as being able to use Hot Wheels cars in the game.
--edit I think I've just realised why I would probably not look at this version. It's a board game now, rather than a tabletop game. Originally Car Wars could be a sprawling table top game. (The original release with just the road, you could just roam around your table or floor with the road templates and take out old cards and add them to the road in front.
--second edit Also, and again I apologise this is more "This is not Car Wars any more" rhetoric, but the design side used to be a big part of the game. Now it seems they are trying to make it ultra simplified. No top armour or cloud weapons any more from the example.

Totally agree. I grew up with the original Car Wars Deluxe and loved the gazillion different tokens for cars, trucks, boats, oil slicks, potholes, pedestrians, expansions (boat wars etc). The fold-out gridded city and road maps, buildings, etc. The build rules were somewhat complex but made things incredibly interesting and engrossing. This looks like it might be fun as an alternative to Gaslands, but this doesn't seem like the Car Wars I'd want to play.

It's a shame to see everything dumbed down when it comes to gaming. Also the cost of this is obscene, especially what they charge for cars when you can just pick up matchbox cars for far less... I can't see this catching on, but it does make me want to break out the original and design some cars!
