CRKT Homefront Knife Review with Field Strip Tech Demo. A Ken Onion Design.

- The CRKT Homefront by Ken Onion has one of the coolest disassembly features on a every day carry knife- field strip technology! It also has classic WWI and WWII army inspired design cues. It features a 3.5 inch blade made from AUS-8 steel, a liner lock, and aluminum handle. It also has a new feature called, field strip technology. It allows you to disassemble the knife for emergency cleaning in the field. Anyway this is a cool badass looking knife, for collectors and knife dudes alike. It's durable and big, and you can find it at Going Gear.com. Also exclusive to this channel... get 10% off by entering: AKB

Hey @Advanced Knife Bro thanks for taking the time to review this knife. Found this video very entertaining. Really liked your detailed explanation on putting the knife back together. Great review- thanks again!
Thanks! I've really been liking carrying it.
CRKT OFFICIAL what you should do is make different blade styles and steels that you can just drop in to the frame
6 years later and just discovering this knife, and I have to say I really hope you guys start implementing the field strip design in more higher quality knives. Would definitely be worth the money.
you hit the nail on the head when you said "a technology that will discourage you from lending the knife to a friend to use"
Actually, a really nice knife. I like the direction CRKT is going in with this one, they always have exciting designs, and this one is even outsourced to a country known for quality.
I like the design too... it's a nice looking blade that has that tank weight and look.
It seems like a well thought out product so I was a bit confused about the ring on the flipper tab. Then it hit me: You can lock the knife closed by threading something through it, like a carabiner or a small padlock. Pretty clever if you want to keep it safe from children or just want an extra safety feature for whatever reason.
Or is it that just another one of those things that is obvious to everyone else but me? Like showers or not showing up drunk at job interviews and funerals
Well done and entertaining as always. If only my name was First Production...
You could always change it. Bam... excuse to buy another knife!
I think we all like to hit it at a weird angle sometimes. I wish CRKT would upgrade their damn blade steel. If that was 154CM, I would buy it. Spyderco was using AUS 8 in the fucking 90s.
My CRKT Outrage came in this week and it kicks huge ass. I would love to see a review... IKBS that is super smooth, awesome blade shape, and excellent pocket clip. It's around ~$45. Thanks for another video
+Daniel Kompolt cool looking blade. I'd like to try out the IKBS... Thanks for checking it out man!
***** No problem, I like your content. Check out other IKBS offerings by CRKT (Hootenanny, Shenanigan, Ripple, GSD to name a few). The Outrage is just what caught my eye.
+Daniel Kompolt will do!
"or with the way things are going, WW3 inspired." that's perfect!
You can interpret that comment, however you like! Thanks man!
***** lol, I enjoy the content bro, keep it up!
Only nylon washers at the pivot? And no spare parts in the box? Make it 154CM steel and put some bronze washers in it and I'll pay the 100$
Yep Nylon man.
Only from the innovative mind of Ken Onion...Homefront Knock Down ..WOW
Hands down, the most entertaining knife reviews!
Check out some of my newer ones if you get the chance, thanks!
Ha! love the Big Lebowski reference. Interesting knife.
Saw one in black last night at my local Sportsman's Warehouse for $59 new. Price seems to have come down. Had it been s30v, 154cm or anything better than Aus 8 I would have picked it up in a heart beat! Awesome design, great in hand!
+Cory Frost $60 aint bad... reg price is a little too high for aus8. But yeah, 154cm might balance price and better steel.
That all black model is actually $42.50 on Amazon. BUT, it has worse steel than AUS8. It's "1.4116 blade steel" and glass reinforced nylon handles.
Very cool and unique knife. That alone should sell a tank full of them.
The look of this CRKT is quite appealing, the price not so much. Thanks for the review Knife Bro
No problem!
man your reviews are great. i look forward to seeing them when they come out.
+david sandlin thanks man! I've been putting in overtime on these lately.
been eyeballing this lately
Strategically filmed in front of your home - nice
+matt l I'd like to say that was a conscious decision...
Have seen this on Sensible Preppers channel, while its a good value steel for the Price i wouldn't even think of Purchasing this.
A lot of the price in this knife is novelty of the field stripping technology, and it being an interesting design. I can not disagree with your assessment of being just an aus-8 knife. Maybe they'll offer it with an upgraded steel in the future. It's still a cool looking blade.
***** :) Then again if someone was to give me a knife for free i wouldn't ever say no to one which is over priced.
thats kind of expensive for aus 8 steel......
+Spectre I guess it's the design?
yeah, its just that for the price, they could at least toss in some kind of sandvik steel if not s30v
Give it a few months they'll see people are asking for a better steel and they will release the new model/steel.
Great review 👌I have one of these.. I was surprised it held up to wood shaving actually
nice review. good sense of humor. Subbed!
Thank you! Check out some of my other reviews if you get a chance.
Am I the only one who noted your Big Lebowski reference? Great review, thinking about this. maybe price will drop since new models are coming out. I just have a hard time spending close to $100 for Aus-8 steel.
Yeah... the knife is cool- but no one like a hundred dollars worth of AUS8
Dude more vids pls hysterical and informative tuff to do u do it well try backpacks other EDC shit
Love the videos. Great work.
Great review man, love your commentary style keep em up!
Crankin' em out factory style!
+Advanced Knife Bro Any higher end knife reviews in the future or strictly budget knives?
+douchetree13 in theory the Benchmade 940-2. Going gear is going to send me one, when they get a shipment. I've really been wanting to do this one.
+Advanced Knife Bro Oh nice, the 940 is an awesome knife you're gonna dig it.
+douchetree13 it'll be Benchmade #2. I can't wait!
Still waiting on that field strip.
+Mosss that's for the midnight release
;p aight also what do you think of the Otanashi no ken by CRKT?
Informative, Smart, Hilarious... Great review!!!!
you FINALLY got a stripper in a video! kudo's!
+vuileasbak on a technicality! I hope you can rest easy now!
Good review, I enjoy your sense of humor.
Thanks man!
Cool and great review as always...keep it up man...
Thanks man!
great review. keep up the good work.
Thanks man!
good stuff man thanks! I'm not sure I'd buy that one but I like the effort you put into the video. oh and put on some socks ya damn hippie
Cool knife. I like the overall design. The size, shape, look, fuctionality and whatnot. But as far as takedown... meh, it don't do much for me.
Fair enough... It is a nice looking blade though!
Did anyone get the big lebowski reference
Cool video. Reviewed this one on my channel as well. So far I am liking it a lot :-)
Yep, it's a cool blade!
How can you say an Aus 8 linerlock is a cool blade!!!!!!!! Lame SHILLL!!!
how is it holding up?
It's held up fine. I carry my lighter knives more, but it's a pretty robust knife. Sometimes the problem with reviewing so many blades, is that I often have something different in my pocket every week. Flippers and liner locks are not my favorite deployment and lock mechanisms.
If they used a better steel I’d own this already doesn’t have to be a super steel but how about D2 vg10 154cm 14c28n n680 n690.
I like your reviews very entertaining keep it up. I have the less expensive model of this knife; (Black G 10 no blood groove in blade and I think even cheaper steel)Amazon sent it to me by mistake I kind of like it pretty cool design. But I often wonder how much it would suck if it came apart unintentionally ...And I feel that that would be very possible. So I find myself holding the lever down which in turn makes me grip it in a weird way. I do rather like the aesthetic though.Just thought I’d share good work buddy
What score on the Bastard Scale would you rate the Field Strip Technology?
So is 10 full bastard? Is full bastard good?
+Advanced Knife Bro The Bastard Scale goes to 11, yo.
'...until it goes CLICK!'
Great Jesus reference. Nobody fucks with the Jesus.
I hid a Dude reference in my latest review- no one seems to have picked up on it yet though! Thanks man!
It has to be a super blade
Hey!I have one of those!
Somewhere...
Lol my first child will be named: first production.
is it sharp enough out of the box to shave arm hair?
It was.
what flashlight is that in the beginning
Olight S2 copper. I did a review of it a while back.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. You put out great content with great jokes. Looking forward to your videos.
Much appreciated... thanks man!
No onion cutting?
Imagine me facepalming right now. I totally blew that one.
no ken cutting either!
+Advanced Knife Bro yeah! Now drop and baton me 20 shallots!
cool design, but that thing costs 160€ here in Germany....
Need better blade steel, for that price.
thats no fun its like $42 USD here. with free 2-day shipping
badass!!!
Thanks man!
the b-word, lol. nice knife man
It shall not be named!
Well this is neat. But for the price, I'd rather just get a Becker BK7. Hefty, nasty tough, gets sharp as a scalpel, and all that 20 bucks less, worlds of difference for me. Sure, it's a fixed blade knife, but that's how I think.
Best bugout knife !!!!
I'm assuming you were being sarcastic when you said you've never heard of Ken onion
+Gavin Reddig maybe...
What's the point of having one if you can't beat on it? The knife I mean. Nice review though.
+Eddie King that's what I say!
+Advanced Knife Bro Actually I liked the knife so much I've written it down on my calendar to purchase in November. Darn you!!
+Eddie King nice! It's a cool looking blade for sure!
My parents named me first production. Which is kinda wierd, because I'm not their first kid.
lenKth
!
Feild stri- WHY???
Causa guts.
If you want a folding hunting knife, it's nice
I like knives, and I LOVE strippers! ...and gimmicks!
THEN BUY THIS NOW
i like the look but the gimmick and the materials are not worth the price......... bring it down to ~$60 and im in. could you see if you could do something about that for us bruh
Best I could do was the 10% coupon. I'm just a reviewer!
I’m going to name my son strider. And if I have a girl spyderco.
Men love jimping!
Aww PHUCK...
I accidentally liked this video which subsequently changed the likes from 666 to 667...
Sorry MANG...
"Nobody fucks with Jesus"
did you just call me a tool? 😝
Naw I said you're cool man!
youve NEVER heard of Ken Onion? really????
NOPE!
Advanced Knife Bro ok....We'll he is very well known.for his knife designs.
Cool.
Unless you are being sarcastic then you aren't very advanced. Ken Onion is one of the premiere designers alive today.
I don't believe you.
Homefront....... Made in Taiwan
doesn't look as cool as I thought...womp womp
Just another crap steel overpriced gimmick knife from CRKT! They don't even know how to make a left handed knife. My Ganzo 727 green with axis lock is far superior!
I'm not going to disagree with you on retail prices for some knives.
