  • The CRKT Homefront by Ken Onion has one of the coolest disassembly features on a every day carry knife- field strip technology! It also has classic WWI and WWII army inspired design cues. It features a 3.5 inch blade made from AUS-8 steel, a liner lock, and aluminum handle. It also has a new feature called, field strip technology. It allows you to disassemble the knife for emergency cleaning in the field. Anyway this is a cool badass looking knife, for collectors and knife dudes alike. It's durable and big, and you can find it at Going Gear.com. Also exclusive to this channel... get 10% off by entering: AKB

      CRKT OFFICIAL what you should do is make different blade styles and steels that you can just drop in to the frame

      6 years later and just discovering this knife, and I have to say I really hope you guys start implementing the field strip design in more higher quality knives. Would definitely be worth the money.

    you hit the nail on the head when you said "a technology that will discourage you from lending the knife to a friend to use"

    Actually, a really nice knife. I like the direction CRKT is going in with this one, they always have exciting designs, and this one is even outsourced to a country known for quality.

      I like the design too... it's a nice looking blade that has that tank weight and look.

  • @TheKimjoh560
    @TheKimjoh560 7 років тому +4

    It seems like a well thought out product so I was a bit confused about the ring on the flipper tab. Then it hit me: You can lock the knife closed by threading something through it, like a carabiner or a small padlock. Pretty clever if you want to keep it safe from children or just want an extra safety feature for whatever reason.
    Or is it that just another one of those things that is obvious to everyone else but me? Like showers or not showing up drunk at job interviews and funerals

    I think we all like to hit it at a weird angle sometimes. I wish CRKT would upgrade their damn blade steel. If that was 154CM, I would buy it. Spyderco was using AUS 8 in the fucking 90s.

    Saw one in black last night at my local Sportsman's Warehouse for $59 new. Price seems to have come down. Had it been s30v, 154cm or anything better than Aus 8 I would have picked it up in a heart beat! Awesome design, great in hand!

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  7 років тому

      +Cory Frost $60 aint bad... reg price is a little too high for aus8. But yeah, 154cm might balance price and better steel.

    • @BornIn1500
      @BornIn1500 6 років тому +1

      That all black model is actually $42.50 on Amazon. BUT, it has worse steel than AUS8. It's "1.4116 blade steel" and glass reinforced nylon handles.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  8 років тому

      A lot of the price in this knife is novelty of the field stripping technology, and it being an interesting design. I can not disagree with your assessment of being just an aus-8 knife. Maybe they'll offer it with an upgraded steel in the future. It's still a cool looking blade.

  • @401als

    how is it holding up?

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  8 років тому

      It's held up fine. I carry my lighter knives more, but it's a pretty robust knife. Sometimes the problem with reviewing so many blades, is that I often have something different in my pocket every week. Flippers and liner locks are not my favorite deployment and lock mechanisms.

    If they used a better steel I’d own this already doesn’t have to be a super steel but how about D2 vg10 154cm 14c28n n680 n690.

  • @victormiguel6712
    @victormiguel6712 6 років тому

    I like your reviews very entertaining keep it up. I have the less expensive model of this knife; (Black G 10 no blood groove in blade and I think even cheaper steel)Amazon sent it to me by mistake I kind of like it pretty cool design. But I often wonder how much it would suck if it came apart unintentionally ...And I feel that that would be very possible. So I find myself holding the lever down which in turn makes me grip it in a weird way. I do rather like the aesthetic though.Just thought I’d share good work buddy
