You must realise how expensive films are.. (Paying the cast and crew of which there are usually hundreds, renting film equipment, shooting costs, editing, Marketing and distribution also usually takes up almost half of the budget). All of this considered 1 million dollars isnt much to make a feature length film. Contagion had a budget of 60 million Dawn of the dead (2004) - 26 millions 28 days later - 8 million

If you experience massive amounts of blood loss in the early stages of of being infection you probably wouldn’t live long enough to go the 24 hour cycle of flesh separating from bone and eventually being rendered immobile. The human body can only take so much blood loss before shutting down, just saying. It is a movie so there has to be suspense, drama and fear; I can see why they spice it up though.
Another thing that Eli Roth put in the film was the shaving scene that he said happened to him when he was in Iceland where he began shaving off strips of flesh from his neck & jaw. The part he found to be scary was how good it felt. He said he had no pain but it felt like he was scratching the worlds most severe mosquito bite which apparently felt amazing to him. I actually find the idea of feeling good about your skin coming off more disturbing than these characters being in pain from it.

It's bad, yes, and a violation of rights obviously. But in the heat of the moment I don't know what I would have done dealing with something like that. (Not trying to hold bad cop's hands)
They probably should've made sure he was actually infected before killing him, but I guess since they don't know how it's transmitted it's not too bad of an idea just to kill him before he touches you.
They're right. He should have been killed. You can't risk that infection getting out. Sure, it got it out anyway and he wasn't infected, but they didn't know that. If it had prevented an outbreak, then it wouldn't have been wrong to shoot him. Desperate times call for desperate measures. When you're dealing with a possible pandemic like that, you can't half ass it. You need to take care of that shit fast and leave nothing to chance. Look at 27 Week Later. Those kids should have been executed the moment they broke quarantine. And really, even before that, the entire island should have been nuked, just to be sure.
Yes it does make it ok to kill them. They're too dangerous. You can't let the infection spread. Not worth the risk. That "They had it bad enough" is just sentimental bullshit. That kind of nonsense gets people killed. If 10,000 people die because one of the infected "Had it bad enough" and you didn't kill them to contain the outbreak, then that is immoral. And a mercy killing is not immoral, especially when it's the sufferer that's asking for it.
I always had a memory buried in my mind of “pancakes, no pancakes” and I couldn’t be bother to try and look up the movie, and watching this reminded me of the movie
I have eczema, and my Mum has a rare skin disease which is basically eczema, but worse and all over the body. For all you that don’t have it, be glad. It is not fun. I had to spend days off school and stay home to help my Mum. She would have bleach baths, where the slight amount of bleach in the water would burn off the dead skin. Using a towel after that hurt like hell, but it is what we had to do. I made her lunch, helped her move around the house, cleaned the house, fed the dog and cat. I did everything, since she wasn’t able to do anything. Watching your Mum cry when she can’t stand up from the pain takes a toll on your mental health. I am seeing multiple people for the stuff I have seen, and I wish this upon no one else. It’s a horrifying experience, and not fun in the slightest. The eczema on my hand gets worse every day, and even though I’m not supposed to, I can’t stop picking at it. I have a chance of suffering from the same thing she has when I am older, and it scares me. My Mum nearly died, and was told by multiple doctors that she wouldn’t make it, or that she would spend the rest of her life like this. Luckily, she is A LOT better now. Her hair is growing back from almost entirely falling out, she can move around and do everything everyone else can, and she doesn’t have to take baths anymore. Wrong place to share this, but it shows that things like this do exist, and they are much, much worse then you would think.

"I SURVIVED! I FUCKING SURVIV-"
*gets shot multiple times*
Yes it does make it ok to kill them. They're too dangerous. You can't let the infection spread. Not worth the risk. That "They had it bad enough" is just sentimental bullshit. That kind of nonsense gets people killed. If 10,000 people die because one of the infected "Had it bad enough" and you didn't kill them to contain the outbreak, then that is immoral.
And a mercy killing is not immoral, especially when it's the sufferer that's asking for it.
Loved this movie growing up man! Thanks for the vid!!
Have you done MEV virus from contagion?
Yep!
I always had a memory buried in my mind of “pancakes, no pancakes” and I couldn’t be bother to try and look up the movie, and watching this reminded me of the movie
Moral of the story. Only drink beer while on a camping trip. Be like jeff.
Happy Valentine's day everyone! :D
Can I get a heart?
