They should have just included a remote for that. 60 seconds isn't the problem if it is just displayed on a shelf, but it is definitely a problem when you opt for an acrylic glass case display. I wish they had done a remote with it or at least made it possible if someone wanted to just do that.
Not sure what that yellow box is inside under the Flux Capacitor or why the wire clips on the exterior are purple. Also supposed to have the GoodYear Eagle GT tire lettering. On the plus side, the solid blue on the exterior appears to finally have been done right and nice and solid. Although the plutonium exhaust steam shouldnt be going off the same time as the blue lights.
I think for the price it's an excellent model. Very detailed. Somewhat agree on the light time issue. It's really not that big of a deal, but a choice of time would be a nice option, I agree. There's a lot of cool details, the time circuits display, the HVAC controls are extremely detailed, etc. I'm quite happy with mine!
Welp ive already opened mine and im sure ebay sales will plummet once word gets out about the timer. So.... time to dissasemble and fix it myself! Ill open her up after the beginning of the year and report back when i find a fix. Good luck ladies and gents
My recollection from a Hasbro rep on a different product (Ghostbusters related) was something to the effect that toys aimed at young children have regulations about timers for use. They could theoretically up the age rating on this one product but, essentially, the problem is that higher age ratings might not hold up in court if someone with a young child made a complaint because SO MUCH of their product is rated 4+ that some courts or regulatory agencies would say that it's irrelevant when they give an individual product a higher age rating because the prevalence of lower age ratings on their product creates some kind of "reasonable expectation" for certain purposes that you don't need to look at the age rating and the lower age rating standards always apply. There are basically two workarounds. One is if they completely didn't put Tomy (or Hasbro or whatever) prominently on the box. But that creates marketing problems because then they have a famous, trusted brand that has to be fine print. I guess maybe they could have gotten away with another brand owned by the company, like just Takara, maybe. But that can also have its own issues, including Universal maybe not wanting to license to a more obscure brand or one that isn't in U.S. markets. (Takara wouldn't have worked here anyway but SOME other Tomy affiliated brand might.) The other workaround -- and this is what Hasbro sometimes does -- is to quietly engineer in some unadvertised way to disable to child features. For example, the circuit board on the Proton Pack made by Hasbro used very simple, no weld connectors and had extra spaces. But they basically have to void your warranty if you get in there AND they generally can't tell you what they did. Hasbro reps are fond of literally winking at the camera and saying vague things like how customizers will enjoy some choices made. But the two things to consider here are that we haven't had anyone take this apart yet to see if there are easter eggs or design choices quietly made for modders AND that Tomy seems very serious about the quality of their warranty and doesn't seem to want to send mixed messages about whether it's okay to void your warranty. Hasbro by contrast is fairly good about standing behind product but they don't have nearly the kind of explicit warranty Tomy does. I believe Tomy will fully replace any unit with defects they caused for 12 months. So if there is a hidden workaround for the timer built in for adult collectors, basically, Tomy would never publicly admit they put it there deliberately.
Let me just add...NOT bashing this nice model from Tomy, but the strange timer is an odd failure for some people to be sure. I don't need Tomy's help protecting my batteries! LOL! I'm hoping there's a fix for this.
I mean wasn't the tos enterprise have the same issue? Unless it like states it needs a charger or cable I wouldn't expect it to stay on for a long time.
No, the Tomy Enterprise has no timer. It stays on. I leave it on for display and use rechargeable batteries. The timer issue is made worse because there's no reason for it to be so short. 60 seconds. Good grief.
Hello Do you have the NECA BTTF ANIMATED SERIE, DOC AND MARTY figures to place inside? I'm looking for the right Delorean to go with those 5 inch figures
I get your disappointment, more disappointing is that Doc doesn't fit into it. I have mine shipped out but not reached yet. For the lighting continuously ON, you can use a regulated AC supply if you can do that sort of mod. I know it should have come from Tomy but that's the best solution for now.
I just knew from the talk on the kickstarter page that lighting this thing as a display piece was going to be a no go. Disappointed. Tomy seems to have gotten confused as to whether this is a playlet or a display item. That timer is ridiculous. My anticipation for receiving this has been diminished for sure.
Yeah...absolutely hurts this thing. I can't even imagine why anyone would cripple it with a 60 second timer. Insane. Other than that, it's well done. Maybe there's a way to hack past this issue. We'll see if someone brave opens it up.
I see a ton wrong in the details. Not accurate what so ever. That's two dissappointments Tomy has made the TOS Enterprise and now this. I don't have high hopes for the Refit Enterprise due to ship out late next year
The Hotwheels Super Elite 1/18 scale model is still the most accurate to me. And you can make all 3 versions from the same model. But it's kinda rare and costs a pretty penny now. The sound effects are perfect and go off exactly the way they're supposed to, from punching in the destination to take off and even changes when in hover mode.

I hope and pray they do not do this with the enterprise
The enterprise is USB powered - no batteries.

@@robertbrody4032 Is there like a way to modify it? Maybe contact tomy and see if they can tweak it or something?
Timer doesn't bother me. The finish does. Mine and other have trouble with the finish applied to the metal.
Interesting. Im still waiting for mine to arrive.
What did you use for the fog? Didn’t see anything in the instructions on what to use.
Go on Amazon. You need fog juice, which is the stuff they use in fog machines for Halloween displays.
@ cool. Thank you
I purchased the Lionel smoke fluid for their model trains.
They should’ve had a usb option for display.
@@Jayqone1 A USB adapter would have worked because they make them for battery compartments. But Tomy ruined that option with the timer.
Are those physical buttons or are they capacitive?
capacitive

No, this model would match up with the Neca 7 inch figures.
@@robertbrody4032 I saw some videos its not possible to fit NECA Doc. So not sure what has happened from pilot to final.
@@Mr767267he does fit maybe ill take a video
@@illestfunction yes please...lots of YTubers have tried it.

Doc does fit fine hes in mine the door just doesn’t shut theres no need to when its on display
Yeah thats stupid and why u don't get multiple options for time for that money is crazy. And the Chinese wonder why the factory's are struggling.

i saw no dissapointment with the tos enterprise, and i expect none with the refit
Not sure why you are complaining when you can't even make decent video explaining yourself.
Really? What part of the video wasn't clear? Seems like everyone else understood without a problem.
