Flymo Robot Mower Long Grass 2 Day Timelapse

I deliberately let the grass grow long to see how the Flymo 1200R robot mower would handle it.
The mower ran between 9.30am and 7pm both days. It generally did a good job but left a patch of particularly long grass in the middle, which it was gradually nibbling around the edges.
I really love this mower and it keeps the grass looking great. You are really supposed to have it cut the grass more regularly so it never gets this long.

Is it just an illusion or did it leave a patch in the middle of the lawn?

It backs away if it gets stuck and the grass was too long there

Why doesn't it just go up and down in lines?

I don't think it would do it accurately as there is no GPS or mapping. Random cutting ensures coverage I think.

It's done a really good job over the years. Way better than a standard lawnmower ever did.
