With regard to the battery life, I have the predecessor model, the Flymo 1200R. Just starting the 5th year on the original battery.

Very interesting thanks. If my lawn has railway sleeper edges do you not need the edging wire in this area?
It’s hard to say. I have seen it hit an object in the garden and then move back from it but I’m not sure you could rely on a solid boundary like sleepers instead of the boundary wire for any length. It also uses a piece of boundary wire down the middle of the garden to follow back to the charger.

I’ve never measured it but all li-ion appliances consume a fraction of their mains counterparts - roughly a twentieth.
