      I’m Mormon I believe this but not the church as a whole but I do think god tried to use Mohammed to bring back the original meaning of the Bible but corruption within the leadership destroyed the original Quran and the Quran that is here today might be the reason why the book is spoken instead of read.

    The Book of Mormon was prophesied by Isaiah in Isaiah 29, which also is used by Muslims to defend the Qur'an. That prophecy, however, more precisely fits the Book of Mormon. Also, the Book of Mormon has numerous witnesses, whilst the Qur'an has only the word of Muhammad. The Book of Mormon preaches the divinity and messiahship of Jesus Christ; the Qur'an acknowledges Jesus as only a prophet, and not the "God of Israel." The Jewish and Mormon scriptures teach that men are the sons of God and that the oneness of God is in purpose and that numerous gods can be One; the Qur'an teaches strict monotheism and that God has no sons. Mormonism teaches that angels and humans are one race of being, and that all men and animals have a premortal existence; Islam teaches that men and animals begin their existence at birth. And most of all, the Book of Mormon teaches a God who would not violate the free agency of man, whilst the Qur'an teaches compulsive compliance, or death.
    Muhammad and Mormonism cannot be reconciled in my own opinion, but if so, it means the Qur'an would need to be corrupted by those who followed. Looking at Ezekiel 38-39 and Zechariah 12-14, radical Islam seems to be an outstanding candidate for Gog, or the Christian Antichrist, who will fall upon Jerusalem like a cloud in the latter days. Whether they will be unified by a restored Caliph or a nation like Russia, the scriptures are not entirely clear. But the Caliph would be a power that is, was, and is again. If so, look for that power to come out of Turkey.
    I hope Muhammad was a prophet, but if so, his followers are antichrist, with a small "a."

      @grayman7208 10 років тому +13

      Jaefar SABNW "8 of 11 of those witnesses refuted Joseph Smiths claim."
      Nonsense.
      Not one witness ever refuted Joseph Smith and what they saw.
      Some left the church, because they didn't like how it was being run, but none ever denied what they saw.
      And some of those who left came back.

    • @NuclearDetractor
      @NuclearDetractor 10 років тому +2

      It's not that hard for a leader to get a group of superstitious people to testify about something. Most of the witnesses belonged to 2 families, one of which was joseph's. Heard of david koresh? There is even a guy that has a following that believes he is jesus. His followers will testify to his divinity. Witnesses are terrible evidence; it's been proven time and time again.

    • @johnroberts6695
      @johnroberts6695 10 років тому +4

      Berny HI, Berny. Yes, I'm fully aware that the Qur'an teaches the messiahship of Jesus. The Muslims, however, have a revulsion of the concept that anyone could be the Son of God or the children of God, and specifically, that Jesus (Yahweh) was the Son of God in the flesh and Jehovah in the spirit. We LDS believe, and this can be traced back to the earliest scripture, even Genesis, that man was created in the image of God and that we are, in fact, His children. Further, that humans and angels are of the same species -- some resurrected and some not.
      Additionally, Muslims have held to traditions of conversion by the sword in times past, and many Muslims believe their eschatology dictates this will again happen when Jesus comes to "break the cross" and do away with the tax. Alas, the one aspect of earth life that God will never violate is the principle of free agency. He didn't even force man to be sent to Earth without gaining each person's consent before our birth. So Christians and Muslims disagree fundamentally about Jesus' godhood and his position as Mediator in this universe. Also, in our potential, as children of God, to become like Him.

    Good show! Only one thing I would make a correction on. Islam does have an idea of pre-mortal existence. That's even why they call converts by the term reverts. The idea is that before each 'ruh' is born into a physical body Allah asks us a series of question. Who is your rabb (master)? being the main question. This encounter forms the fitrah or conscience of the person. Our mortal bodies give us what in Arabic is called the 'nafs' much like the Book of Mormon concept of the natural man.

    • @JaefarSABNW

    The Quran is in no way comparable to the Book of Mormon. The mere suggestion is superficial: The BoM was translated/transmitted by revelation from God, and acknowledged by His voice as being true , while the Q was written by associates of Muhammed after he had died (Muhammed could not write himself). So you can imagine that the Q is full of faults and false doctrines.

    • @havegottogitgud
      @havegottogitgud 7 років тому +4

      In fact, there is strong evidence that Mohammed was literate. When referring to himself as 'illiterate' in the Quran he meant he didn't have the Bible. Perhaps that's why the references to it are so lame, and the doctrine so distorted. (Quran denying God has children while Genesis 1 teaches it, denying Jesus is God while John 1 teaches it, etcetera).

The Quran is so disappointing and sad as a piece of literature that I can hardly believe that it could be held in such high esteem by so many people. Further more it is an insult to God as it completely lacks any understanding of holy ceremonies and sacred ritual. Islam adds the more detestable beliefs and understandings later in other books but this seems to make little difference to muslims.

    Who are you to tell muslims what they should believe?
    Dummy, you are a Christian bringing the word of God/Jesus to all who do not have it.
    That is your responsibility as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

    Muslims use Mohammad as most Christians use Jesus Christ - that he is the "last" prophet and that no other is needed. Not sure just what Peterson is attempting to accomplish here, though.

    Mormonism is not a Christian denomination but a separate religion.

      +swissnor You are right if you are saying we are not traditional Christians, because we do not worship Plato's version of God, instead we worship the God of the Apostles, the Patriarchs, Moses, and all the holy prophets. Of course if we are not at all Christian that would be news to Dr. Stephen H Webb and would make all the preaching of Christ in the Book of Mormon and by Joseph Smith very counter productive and a waste of space.

      +Luke Steele Mormonism is not a restored Christian church nor is the LDS church a Christian church in any way shape or form. The Christian God, Jesus and Holy Ghost are completely different from the God, Jesus and Holy Ghost of Mormonism.

      The God, Jesus and The Holy Ghost that most traditional Christians worship was invented in the imagination of Plato in about the 3rd or 4th century AD (check the work of Dr. Stephen H Wells) so you are right that we don't necessarily have the same concept of God that most Christians have, but there is no literature more rich with Christ than the Book of Mormon and you would know that if you had ever read if for yourself.
      So perhaps it is you who isn't Christian?
      Can you even give me a definition of God's qualities as defined by your religion to contrast with what we believe about God?
      What right do you have to decide who is and is not Christian?

      First of I have read the Book of Mormon. Both the older and newer versions of the Book of Mormon. And one has to admit Mormonism is a very very interesting religion. And Joseph Smith was a very charismatic and persuasive person. But if one looks a bit closer at the history and the archeology of Mormonism one can see it doesn't add up.

      What doesn't add up is how Joseph Smith, an uneducated farm boy, could have produced a Book with such complexity and accuracy without the help of God.
      If you have read it you know that the pages are full of Christ including what he directly said to the people, if you didn't notice then I would guess that you are only claiming to have read it when you have not. Of course that can be fixed. You can go ahead and read it and tell me what you found.
      I hear that the recent Princeton edition may be the closest edition to what was originally translated, and is in an easier format to read.
