That Woodstock performance was one of Jewels best. She is an awesome individual with an excellent set of pipes that gives you goosebumps every time she sings.
Now, of course, you'll want to listen to the original studio version of this, just to understand what she was riffing off of. An underappreciated voice and talent.
62 here and I'm a HUGE fan of Jewel. What an amazing talent! Now you need to react to the studio version. On so many levels, they are completely different songs. It will blow your mind!
Jewel has such a unique voice. She can also yodel, which adds to the sound in her voice! Her first album, Pieces Of You, were all songs she wrote as a teenager. This particular version in not how it sounds on the album at all (although I do like it!) She’s definitely worth another listen! Pieces Of You, The Morning Song, Near You Always, Daddy…. There’s a lot of great songs from that album!
In addition to the obvious vocal and writing talents, I saw her in an interview and she is one of the most intelligent and well spoken individuals I have ever come across. A true renaissance soul.
Absolutely loved Jewel growing up! Pieces of You was a total masterpiece! Every song was crazy good! Her yodeling skills are amazing! You may want to check that out sometime! She's a beautiful yodeler! I know the videos are out there! She's amazing! She did a lot of adlibbing in this live version. The studio version is quite different, but wonderful. It's just more pop sounding than what she did here. Love this reaction! Thank you! Great pick from your patron!
Great Reaction Choice, Salvo! Jewel is so underrated! Not the easiest way to start discovering her, (she has easier Songs to get to know her), but at least you immediately get immersed fully. In the part where she has a solo with the guitar guy, this is called „call and response“, when one interpret reacts on the solo licks of another player. By the way: Jewel is also very versatile - and she has won last year‘s „Masked Singer“ in the US. (which means: she’s still got it!) My personal Jewel favorites: „Down so long“ and „standing still“!
No, that was improvised…..you can tell by the playful expressions and how much they’re smiling and into it. It was NOT rehearsed. Reminds me of Plant and Page playing off of each other. I have heard of Jewel for years, but this is my first time watching her. EXCELLENT! She’s even doing scat! That bass player looks SO familiar…I’ve seen him before. Anybody here know who he is?
I always prefer to hear this song live, because she doesn't have the "Kermit the Frog" vocals that she has on the studio (her description, not mine. To me it sounds like she was yawning while singing). She was exhausted and had been living in her car when she recorded it, which affected her voice. That's why I had mixed feelings when I first heard her. Loved the song and her voice... until she slipped into the Kermit voice. But later I heard other songs and totally fell in love. And then I heard her tell the story of the circumstances of the recording and why her voice sounded that way, and that she herself didn't like it and was embarrassed by it, and it all made sense. Anyway, apart from me and Jewel, no one else seemed to mind, since the song was a big hit. And I'm very glad it was, because she is phenomenal and deserves all of her success. If this song hadn't hit she might have faded into oblivion, and that would have been a huge loss.
There were LOTS of moving parts for what happened in her intuition era. She was also curious to see if people could actually open their minds when she sang pop/electronica. She’s still making music, writing books.
Hahaha! Wow, I was maniacal yesterday, wasn’t I? I’m sincerely apologetic for not learning how to read. Damn, I’m really sorry for going off like that. Take it easy!
❤this is not like the album version or her other songs! She’s ad libing a lot! And instead of her folk sound I would call this funk! She’s amazing. Voice of a generation! She can do anything. Watch some videos from 1st album Pieces of you. And You Were Meant for Me MV. ✌️🫶🏻💛☀️

More Jewel please!

Seen her 4 times and she's a vocalist supreme! She can do things with her voice...man! Yodeling even. She's original! More live Jewel please!😁❤
Love Jewel, seen her Live, she's a soulful spirit... 💫
Never saw Jewel live before. So relaxed, the band smooth as silk.

When can we get more Jewel reactions? Don’t sleep on her! I really enjoyed your reaction. It was super cool how you were vibing and into it
Do the Official video. Jewel is very talented.
There was a time where fun, creativity, and talent reigned.

Love love love the song Love you
1st time ever saw jewel she was playing the part of dorothy in a tv special of wizard of oz ....

8 months late here, but that's Tony Hall. Brady Blade on drums, Steve George on keyboard, Steve Poltz acoustic, Doug Pettibone lead guitar.
@@randallmcclements4038that’s Steve Poltz!!! No way! I’m lazy today, so not gonna research.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
She’s just vibing and playing around here. The studio version is quite different.
Best voice in music , and can she yodel

You should listen to the lp first. This is for established fans
omg, so well put ✌🏽
You should react to her do Foolish Games or You Were Meant For Me
I love this performance of jewels! The only performance of hers that may beat this one! Is when she doing acapella!
Is this reggae? Jazz? Folk? Country? Damn we really need white girls who can sing like Jewel back in the scene.
I can tell you come a generation that is not versed in singing styles. Interesting reaction though.
This must’ve been earlier in the day before everything turned to shit. I’ve seen some crazy footage. Apparently, it turned into a huge disaster!
There were LOTS of moving parts for what happened in her intuition era. She was also curious to see if people could actually open their minds when she sang pop/electronica. She’s still making music, writing books.
I don’t understand…When I said “before everything turned to shit” I was talking about the festival, not Jewel.
Hahaha! Wow, I was maniacal yesterday, wasn’t I? I’m sincerely apologetic for not learning how to read. Damn, I’m really sorry for going off like that. Take it easy!
@@hannahremmel9550 no worries!
I have finally found you and I think it may me serendipitous. Will you marry me?
