Listen carefully at the 2:01 mark when the traffic light turns green, you can actually hear the driver "nail" the accelerator to the floor, that was required to get such a huge, empty bus off the line, imagine with 47 passengers and luggage aboard what a sloth this bus would be? As unique an engine that was short lived, it's distinct sound is unforgettable.
A retrofit with new Series 50 engine in it. Never knew they would do this retrofit. The other known MCI bus with Series 50 engine is Greyhound's MCI MC-12 in the later models that has Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine that's included when they were delivered.
I think I like this set up, better than the B500 with Series 50s in the Greyhound MC12s, but those MC12s can likely climb those hills better than this bus, but I still like this set up.
@seClip9 - Yo when I heard this bus last night, I was completely no good. My ass was beyond finished bro lol. I was doing a charter last night, and I had to pull some strings with my boss to pull this bus out
Damn! I was hoping someone would rev that big ass 4 cylinder! When y'all did @ 1:44, I was DONE! BTW, this is indeed the first MCI 102-A3 bus I've ever heard with the Series 50 as a retrofit engine.
there's nothing wrong with the dd series 50 engine with a ht 740 Allison automatic transmission if you like that idea of a environment friendly engines like I seen a mci mc12 buses have that dd series 50 engine is a big 4 cylinder diesel engine that some greyhound buses have and also an neoplanan460 that still is a septabuses that motor is a silent motor call me old fashioned but I wouldn't use that engine in my buses and very expensive to keep Tony you should check out this video you would like a tree hugging environment friendly engines in your own bus

its the turbo , u can hear her whistling meaning shes about done thats why the bus seems slow the turbo gives it power
Those older MCIs like these had these series 60s installed in them. They replaced their 6V92s
Horizon still has quite a few 102-A3's with the Series 50 still in operation in Seattle as well as in Victoria B.C.
i didnt think a series 50 4 cyl engine could push a big motorcoach as a mci 102a3 amazing my favorite engine love the jake brake though

@seClip9 Not too long ago i saw an MC-9 bus for sale with a Series 50 retrofit on it.
Anyone know what kind of fuel economy this bus would get with this engine?
i never heard a ht transmission hooked up to a series 50 until today
Would've preferred the original 6V92TA engine, or its bigger 400+ horse brother, the 8V92TA.
6v92
Holy shit. It actually reminds me a bit of the 2000 New Flyer C40LF. (The Nova Bus RTS-06 sounds somewhat different.)
Series 50 FTW!!!
sweet shit..this bus sounds awesome!!
@6V92TA - Im sorry ... it has a HT740
Martz Trailways Had A Couple of These But Like In 1989 and 90 models with the same set up
@MAR1NAB5180 It is probably an ex Greyhound MC-12. I know that's the only known kind to have a Series 50 engine in it.

@TheBusDriver84 - My sincere apologies. Thank u for catching me on the transmission. I mistaken it for a B500...durrr lolol. thanks man
She Rides Like A Cadillac. Great Video.
This Bitch Sounds Good With A Series 50 Engine.
Did this bus had a 6v92TA Engine before?
yes they repowered it
Yo Eddie!! Man this thing is tight!!!! make me want it!!
@joshalex93 - thank you sir
Holy mother hell i am finished!

Wait a minute did they actually have Series 50 engines in 1987?
SuperWorldFreak7000 My guess would be that it was a retrofit.
