NONE of what they write is based on fiction, but facts. Even Sharon Gilbert's 'fictional' books, the Red Wing Saga, is based upon historical facts, interwoven into the fictional tale. Just as other historical novel writers, such as John Jakes ("The Kent Family Chronicles", "North and South Trilogy"), Anna Lee Waldo ("Sacajawea"), have done, Sharon has the same writing style.
Not everyone that views these shows knows that Dr. Horn is Donna's father, as she goes by her married name now. Also, what does Scripture say? Matthew 23:9. This is literally what they are doing by referring to Dr. Horn as 'Tom'.

But I agree, they even referred to Tom by his first name before he died last October (hard to believe he's been gone that long). It's not unusual when you're dealing with a public figure such as Dr. Horn. As far as he was concerned, the Body of Christ was his entire family, not just ties to the bloodlines of his own children and wife.
