I’m actually working on my mine to send for grad school now but with everything going on I can just digitally submit it. Saving on actually printing it.
Hello Benett, great help here! I especially like #3 about personal work. I am trying to understand struggeles of ambitious architects fully, and therefore have two very simple questions. I am curious what you (or others) think of it: -As architect trying to find your dream job, what are the 2 biggest issues you’re dealing with? -And what do you think people wish for more than anything else? when looking for job? Thanks so much in advance - looking forward to reading your answers!
That's an excellent question, and I think it definitely depends on personal opinion. To some, it might be stability, and for others it might be lifestyle. As for myself, I value freedom in design decisions and getting the chance to work on interesting projects. Working at credible companies in the past have enabled me to build trust and portfolio that helps me find ideal projects and clients. I would love to hear what your priorities are too!
@@ArchiHacks thanks for your reply. Where did you study actually? I think the biggest problem is that most people are not awaare what they really want and just take the job that comes along. But if you really know what you desire and take baby steps into that direction, you will end up there, i believe so. I am surrounded by a lot of people who value the design part, so they want to be in a great office and have freedom but i also admire the ones who say i am a project architect and i stay on that path, i want to make the details great and dont need to stand in the immediate spotlight.
I studied at the university of Waterloo, and I think both sides are equally valid : ) Sometimes it just takes time for someone to find their calling. I also agree with you that if you take intentional steps towards a certain goal, you'll for sure to reach it one day!
I'm a new subscriber to this channel and love it so far! I've told all my friends about it already. Here's an idea for a video. What about a short tutorial on model making skills. That would be so appreciated my man. Keep up the hard work. Cheers!
Hey Matt, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you've found our contents helpful : ) That sounds like a great idea! I've been meaning to do one for that so I'll get to that as soon as I can get access to a model shop. Thanks again for dropping by and stay tuned!
@@ArchiHacks Really loved your explanation of the portfolios and what are the mistake that can be corrected. Also, looking forward to the model making skill. The videos that you posted are interesting and helpful.
Thank you manh! I've recently started working on my portfolio so this helps a lot. I'm new to the channel and have also watched your tips for InDesign. Very helpful. Thank you so much
Hey thanks for the great video? I have a question. I am working on my portfolio and I am using illustrator for making diagrams and linking them to indesign for presentation. The issue is anytime I export the indesign file as a pdf the thin vector lines in the diagrams appear to be thick unless i zoom in. It was suggested that i rasterize all the vector diagrams so that the lines retain their thicknesses. What do you suggest. Please help thank you 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hey there, I'm glad you liked the video! And yes, I would recommend doing the same thing. It seems that there's no reliable way to ensure that whoever that receives the file will have proper settings for their pdf viewer. One alternative can be using a document sharing website like issuu.com Let me know if that works for you!
Web portfolios are great! It'll be an essential part of architectural career in the future. We covered potential ways to put your portfolio online in this video: ua-cam.com/video/bjy7-TBZmHk/v-deo.html
I'm currently in community college and hoping to transfer to a UC. In order to do that I need to submit a supplemental portfolio. So I was wondering what classes I should take in community college to build up my portfolio.
Hey, that's a great question! I went to the University of Waterloo and I was fortunate to have a great professor who introduced my class to rhino very early on. Having said that, as with all things, I have learned a lot out side of class through projects and office work. Let me know if you have any additional questions!
Yes man, glad to see this new format. Awesome hustle!
Thank you so much for your support! Means a lot coming from you :')
