    My husband and I found your video sitting here on the couch searching, if we could convert our old gas grill. At the beginning of the video, as soon as I saw you, I told my husband, heck yeah, he's gonna tell all we need to know💯 You are straight forward, right to the point, and seem cool as a breeze! Thanks for sharing.

    Can’t wait to re-do my old gass grill this week. I’m 15 and love to grill. So glad I stumbled upon this video as my parents were ready to take the old grill to the dump!! Time to fire up the smoker and the charcoal grill for a small bbq this weekend with my parents. Thanks!

    Always keep an eye out for cast aluminum grills , those things last forever . I got mine for free it was made in the 1970's by charbroil and it's always been outside never covered and it always works great .

      That’s awesome smitty ! Thanks for the comment ! Just be careful not to put to much charcoal in there I usually put a little to the right and cook to the left side then throw it directly over the right side to sear it good luck with it I’ve got several more cooks out of my old gas grill conversion to charcoal!

    If only you had a smaller cake grate at the bottom sso the coals are lifted off the ash and have air flowing beneath the coals. Also removes the hot coals from heating the base

    • @jeffscookingadventure

      You are correct there is a place to put another grate to hold the charcoals to get air it is working great without that but thanks for the comment I’ll try that to see how it helps awesome feedback!

    That using the drip tray to cover the hole is a fire waiting to happen but the idea of converting an old propane BBQ to charcoal is sound. Just take tye time to do it safely and not like this.

    • @jeffscookingadventure

      Thanks for the comment Jim! The drip catcher is not catching anything but keeping the charcoal from falling out of drip hole 👍

      @@jeffscookingadventure i saw that was what you did with it and in a pinch it was clever. But a more long term solution would be patching the hole where it goes with good steel so there is no chance of it moving and a hot piece of charcoal falling out onto a deck or something or maybe burning someones foot. I do a lot of metal fabrication by trade so i would make my own slide in tray with 1/8th steel but I have a metal break and welders at home so its easy. Most don't so your solution works in a pinch buy just like I said risky. A person could put a couple rivets or self tapers into it as it has enough over lap to grab but i would use steel rivits and not aluminum as they might melt. Again good video and a great idea. I find charcoal cooks faster and gives a better taste and smell than propane. Have a greatweekend. Cheers from PEI Canada.

    • @jeffscookingadventure
      @jeffscookingadventure  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the great question! The biggest thing on the grills to do is make sure hot ash can’t fall out the bottom anywhere to cause a fire , make sure the bottom has no holes as far the sides holes don’t matter just make sure hot coals can’t fall out anywhere 😀hope this helped
