Just saw this. There are some rifles that are priceless. 1953 Marlin 336 30-30 in my cabinet has been fired 24 times. 23 by my great grandfather and once by me after my Dad passed. There is no price available that would ever satisfy me to sell. Some things are sacred. They define a time when society had values, morals, work ethic, and civic trust. Mine is a reminder of those times when people cared. Well done.
I also have a '49 336rc 30-30 that my great grandpa bought new, gave to my grandpa and then me when I was 13. Nobody ever shot it until I started deer hunting as a young teen. Yours looks identical to mine but mine has a smooth stock set and yours is checkered. I didn't think they started checkering until later on.
I also have a 1949 336 rc 30-30. When I was 12 I was helping my father cut and split a lot of firewood for no pay. I keep asking him when I was going to be payed and his response was when you have earned enough. One day he had asked me to grab the gun out of his truck and bring it in, so I was checking it out and he ask what I thought of it because it was mine. I was the most excited boy in town and will never part with it. Both of my boys enjoy shooting it as well. It only goes in the woods when the weather is nice.
I have seven Marlin rifles, two of them are manufactured in 1949. My 30-30 is a deluxe model with a 24" barrel. The 32 special has a for stock that is different than any other Marlin I have seen and it is original. I have been offered $1500.00 for those guns , some things you just don't sell. Thanks for sharing your story.
I just brought one of these home, today, that my dad bought new in 1951 and has now handed it down to me. Like yours, this thing looks like it just came off a shelf with hardly a mark on it. It's a beautiful firearm and I can wait to see if my sights are as spot-on as yours were. Thanks for the video!
Hi sir. You've got a real treasure there. I like to see reviews on these hunting rifles. I wonder how many guys there are like me who have zero interest in military style rifles. In fact even with pistols if it's not a revolver I'm not interested.
I have a 1949 Marlin 336RC waffle top 30-30. Never drilled or tapped or had a sling installed. Beautiful old guns and is smooth as butter. I'll never part with mine. Love the checkering on yours! Gorgeous lever gun!
you are so wrong about the value of those old "waffle tops". Just try and buy one here in Texas at a gun show for $500. You're looking at $700-800 at today's prices. I know. I see them pretty often at the larger shows. What a treasure you have. I am so jealous.
My Dad bought a Marlin 336 RC (in the early 1960's) with a serial number starting with a "G". That makes it a 1950 model (the year after I was born). I now have it as it finally made it to me after my older brother passed. It looks amazing and I really want to test it out. My son found a couple of boxes of ammunition and gave them to me on Father's day, so I'll be cleaning it up and taking it to the range. It hasn't been fired since the mid-1960's. Hope it is as accurate as yours! By the way, it looks like it is brand new. Been in a gun cabinet for years.
I like the video I just inherited a Marlin 336RC model 30-30 by the serial number it looks like it was made in 1967. I will break it down to give it a good cleaning. Haven’t shot it yet. But I will to see if it has been sighted in. No scope. It’s easy to like this cow boy gun.
My story is very similar with my 336 however my 336 is a 35rem. But I had to laugh a bit because the first time I shot my grandfathers rifle. The group looked exactly the same that rifle is my hunting rig.
I had the chance to pick up a 336rc like that. Darn mad I was trying to barter down and it got sold on me.. Got an unfired 75 win94 for much cheaper that is a great rifle. But I still cruise the for sale ads for a nice 336rc
@@AbelCompanyArms .. ya .. he had a bunch of other hunting guns that my bother and cousins got that were even older that worked just the same as when they were new. My Grandpa was an avid hunter & fisherman. He took awesome care of his equipment. He even on a occasion reblued all his guns ...
Hi I have a question I’m not sure if you can answer it but my marlin 336 rc is shooting about 8 inches high and the sights are adjust all the way from left to right it’s dead on it’s just shooting high I don’t know what to do other then get a new front sight
Good stuff, man. Beautiful rifle too. I just bought a 1948 336A, 24" barrel, and I thought that maybe the white trim piece that Marlins often have between the butt plate and the stock, was missing. But I see that your's does not have one either. I wonder when that started? Any idea? Seriously, that's a beautiful gun. Makes mine look VERY old.
@@briant7652 Okay, thanks for the input. It's difficult to find info on some of these old Marlins since their company disappeared. As I understand it, you could call Marlin back then and order a few specific features, like mine has a 24" barrel and a peep sight, no checkering. Shawn's has some beautiful checkering and a 20" barrel. Anyway, good shooting to you.
I got a question for anyone that could help me. My grandpa gave me a Marlin 336-RO 30-30. It has JM stamped into the barrel. Now suposedly its a unique 30-30 from what he was told. His friend was a antique dealer and always told my pap it was willed to him when he passed away. Now I cant find anything on the 336 RO? Lots on the 336 RC but not the RO. Does anyone know anything about this gun? Also the fact that it has JM stamped into the barrel is supposed to be significant? I guess thats before savage arms bought out Marlin? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Its only a 19 1/2 inch barrel also.
I have a chance to buy a minty one exactly like it but 1952 and with a period scope, forgot the brand scope but really nice. The gun shop is asking for 695.00 and i haggled down to no tax if i pay cash. You guys think that’s an ok price or am I getting screwed? Won’t have the money for it for another 2 weeks. Good investment or overpriced good investment?
Factory Bear seems like 500 is average price I’ve seen. Though I’ve seen as high as 900. Just depends on condition. Also yours comes with a scope, so that’s probably not a bad price.
Abel Company Arms thank you for your input. A local boomer businessman and semi renowned lever action collector and car show organizer told me that the price is fair in today’s market. I’ll make moves on it promptly.

Also have a 49 3030 rc, 75yrs old shoots grate its like a fine aged wine. Sweet. Nice little rifle.
Love that old rifle, congrats nice rifle. I have a 74 era 336 35 cal. Great rifles, for sure.
just bought a 1948 336RC 30-30 with scope 50 clams shoots fine
so basically you ripped off some old lady or friend who had no idea what the value of the gun truly is for $50? Shameful.
@@easttexan2933 Not a ripoff, he didnt want it in his homme anymore, and he willingly wanted me to have it.

Yep, you are correct. they fetch 800 and some prised even higher. I just paid 800.00 for my 1950 wafle top.
That is a beautiful rifle right there. I bet it holds many fond memories for you. Thanks for the video
Beautiful rifle you have there! 👍🏻
Very nice. I've got a 1952 336
Here in Florida that 3030 would bring around 800 bucks, all jm stamped marlins bring a premium in good condition
Prices have sky rocketed on these.
Wow! What a pattern at 100 yards with no scope.
That's a nice old rifle and a cool story that go's with it .

Damm fine rifle .
Wow, I am Happy for You! It's a Beaut
Beautiful rifle! I have a marlin 30-30, the action is pretty smooth. I found it in a pawnshop best rifle I bought from a pawnshop!
Beau Farmer I love old Marlins. I’ll be interested to see what Ruger does with the company now that they own them.
@@AbelCompanyArms me too! I hope the quality will be better than Remington!
That's a deluxe model with upgraded wood and checkering. Checkering was not a standard on that firearm. Beautiful weapon.
I was wondering why this one was checkered. I have the exact same rifle but mines smooth. I had no idea there was a deluxe model back then.
Great content, beautiful rifle.
Nick Vogel thanks man, I appreciate that

The waffletops 1948-52 definitely didn't have them. My 49 doesn't either
Great vid, have subbed
Look on gunbroker for how much those are going for, for your year rifle. You might be surprised.

I have a Winchester 30-30 model 94e. I’m going to thread the barrel and put the RECON on it 😎
The ammo for the 3030 has went the roof if you can find it.
Is that an ar15 assault rifle

For the record that gun is worth a bit more than $500. Probably closer to 900-1000$.
Wonder what granddad would say about you foolishly drawing all over your arms like that.
Want one
Busted Knuckles pretty awesome
Rifle. Im getting a Marlin dark series to run suppressed. I’ll have a video up when I have it in hand.
Need to harvest a deer with it.
I subscribed I hope I win that helmet
