This was a number 1 hit in the UK and after Bleeding Love is probably her second most famous song. This performance had the UK in a chokehold in 08 too.

Yeah this song was a monster of a hit in the Europe, spending multiple weeks at Number 1. After this performance it became the fastest selling downloaded single and was the 45th best selling song of the decade in the UK. You definitely need to revisit this, its an epic song and the slow build is what makes its so special imo.

The original song is from a band called Snow Patrol. They’re a band from Belfast. It has a very different arrangement to Leona’s- more of a rockier / alternative tone. Was a hit in the UK and Ireland in 2003 - you should check it out as a comparison.

I like Leona. Not massively into this perf. It's a cover of a soft rock/indie ballad by a Scottish band, Snow Patrol. You are right to say Leona sounds like Toni Braxton, they really do sound alike. She seemed to spend a lot of time going into her head voice when I wanted her to belt a lot more, as I feel the song needs a bit more power.
Leona lewis used a variety of mixed voice here. There was equally balanced vocals. Chest voice was definitely there x

Apart from the first note Leona won every single Note. Alex is an alto so will be more comfortable in the lower register the issue is songs sound better (usually) in higher registers. Leona was a different league to Alex and the only reason we compare is X factor - Alex is perfect for west end.

I am so glad to see you back! I wish I could say the same for Leona. She is gorgeous and she sounds nice sometimes but my god it’s hard to sit through a live performance from her. She never commands a stage or has any stage presence. Adele or Mariah do ballads but even when they are singing they are have charisma. Leona feels very impersonal and cold.
I agree. I adore her voice, and she’s absolutely gorgeous but she lacks authenticity and conviction when she performs. To be fair, I feel the same way about Mariah though, she loves showing herself off more than anything else. But I’m with you on Adele and Leona.
@@crazycatpetera1404 She has improved a lot on stage. Watch her videos from the Christmas tour she is currently on. She is a grown woman and performer now.
