I always liked the G.I. Joe personalities, but lets face it, Cobra is way cooler than any of those squares. One of the best things about G.I. Joe the arcade game is that it features practically every Cobra vehicle and character that was produced from that particular era of G.I. Joe. It’s awesome to see so many different Cobra bastards as you rampage through their bases.
Man, Konami was the king of cartoon licensed games. If I had a cartoon show back in the late 80s or early 90s, it would have been an honor to have Konami make a game based on it.
A total classic. Masterful audio mixing and selection. Done with the original cartoon sound effects, commando backflippin' bad guys, machine guns and explosives all made almost entirely with the colors of the American flag.
I’ve played this game nearly 30 years ago back at the former Kitchen 79’ diner back in Philadelphia Pa. as a 19 year old because this was one of G.I. Joe’s first arcade games I’d ever played & it’s the best .
I loved how GI Joe hated on Cobra because they had more money and investments. The had their own rock band (Cold Slither) they had a telethon (Cobrathon) the Crimson Twins had their own business (Extensive Enterprises). Multiple bases. And what do they have? A base with a cannon that they’ve never used.
My oldest son used to watch both G.I. Joe series on WDKY-TV in Lexington, WDRB-TV in Louisville and WGN America (back when WGN was a superstation) when he was a little kid. Nowadays, DVDs are from Shout! Factory, and I hope we have enough money to buy the remaining seasons from the first series and the entire second series, plus the Lady Jaye and Scarlett toys!
I have been waiting for this moment for more than 25 years. I did not know the name of the game. And so ... Today I saw This in the recommendations for me. Many, Many Thanks!!!
I rememebr find this game in an arcade on holiday in Tenerife as a kid... nearly had a heart attack at finding it. Must have spent sooo much money trying to finish it. Love it!!
Man, if the real military was like GI Joe, I would join. I mean, you can wear whatever you want, and you'll never have to worry about dying because the war against Cobra is basically one big game of laser tag.
The only problem with this game really is that you need 4 players to experience the full on spectacle of visual carnage it was intended to be. And dat scarlett booty.....
Here's a lot of G.I. Joe trivia for you: 1. Jonathan Dern, one of the producers of the DIC G.I. Joe series, later formed MGM Animation, which later became Sabella/Dern (SD) Entertainment (now a subsidiary of Cinedigm), with former Hanna-Barbera executive Paul Sabella, and later founded the Sinclair/MGM-owned KidsClick. 2. Lee Gunther, the executive in charge of production for the Marvel/Sunbow G.I. Joe series, who started his career at Warner Bros. and DePatie-Freleng as an editor, later promoted to production executive, would branch out on the final phase of his life, creating Gunther/Wahl Productions with Michael Wahl and 🏃♀️ the studio until his 💀 in 1998. 3. Johnny Douglas, the British-born composer, composed a lot of stuff for Marvel Productions and would return to his native 🇬🇧 and would remain there until his 💀 in 2003.
I only had the opportunity to play this a few times at my arcade before they got rid of it. Man this was awesome. Pure, unadulterated destruction and kickass sound effects and music. And yeah, Snake Eyes doesn't talk...lol
Wow, it's like they put Space Harrier and the pseudo-3D base levels from the original Contra in a blender with an overdose of Reagan-era jingoism and turned the violence up to 11. I'd ask why this never got a home port back in the day, but no system from back then could have handled the awesomeness.
The G.I. Joe arcade game is based on the 1990-1992 DIC/Claster G.I. Joe series and stars 4 characters on the show: Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, and Roadblock.
I remember the first time I beat the game on a quarter. It starts over for free. Got to the final boss. Another quarter later, started over. That's when I decided it was time to stop playing. I miss this game.
This is when G. I. Joe was AMAZING! Great characters, stories, and soldiers going out and protecting their country from TERRORISTS! Not fake Russian crap (Call of Duty, Battlefield or any modern game). AND this game is MORE INTENSE than most shooters today! I played the heck outta this back in the day! I STILL LOVE IT!
score another one for The Keeper of The Sword! however, I thought you guys at Team WOL already covered this game...please correct me if I'm wrong. anyways, keep up the grand preservation of electronic entertainment!
This guy is a rookie, I used to hit almost 1,000 points in the first round. I had mad hours playing with just one coin. This was cool game back in the 90's!
allen harper And it wasn't until the G.I. Joe movie that any of the Joes died. If the cartoons taught me anything, it's this: If you're working for COBRA, and Scarlett starts backflipping... SURRENDER. You've already lost. ;-) Also, COBRA's dental plan sucks! Dr. Mindbender is a certified dentist (and maybe certifiable, as in "certifiably insane")... but are you really sure you want HIM filling your cavities?
HERE IT GOES BUT I DONT THINK COBRA COMMANDER IS THE ONLY ONE WHOS BEHIND ALL OF THIS OR WHATEVER THATS CALLED AND WHATEVER THAT IS AND PERFECTION CALLED OR WHATEVER THATS CALLED AND WHATEVER THAT IS
After defeating the final boss, the reactor have much high voltage, and suddenly start zapping and exploding all the cobra ship, the high voltage has continue zapping, but in all the ship, and is destroyed the high voltage zone, the ship has touched the floor, and has been provocate a big explode
+AnGEl HisPANo It's a setting on the arcade board. You can choose between 2P and 4P operation (obviously, there's no point in turning on 4P mode if the arcade cabinet only has 2 joysticks).
Is it me or are the games graphics really...odd. LIke, it seems like there are constant graphical issues. Also, how is that dirt acting like water Destro, or is that some camo shit?
Mi video juego favorito de guerra en mi infancia era mi favorito y sigue siendo mi video juego favorito de guerra hasta ahora 🖒sin ofender pero siempre me gusto y me gusta este video juego
No way in Hell! Did they really put a 'Yo-Joe!' with Snake Eyes?
He DON'T TALK!

Scarlet was sent on foot to save the World? It's definitely got to be the beginning of the fiscal year! Well played Cobra!!!...🐍👍
I hate that they had Snake Eyes say "Yo Joe!" at the beginning.
I’ve played this game nearly 30 years ago back at the former Kitchen 79’ diner back in Philadelphia Pa. as a 19 year old because this was one of G.I. Joe’s first arcade games I’d ever played & it’s the best .

The Stage 1 music sounds like the intro to the 90's G.I. Joe cartoon, awesome, YO JOE!
Thats because it is lol
IT IS SON.

And you always parachute out of your vehicle when it's destroyed. Gotta love Standards and Practices.
The only problem with this game really is that you need 4 players to experience the full on spectacle of visual carnage it was intended to be.
And dat scarlett booty.....
Yep, dat Scarlett booty indeed!
So I guess this was basically the end of the original GI Joe TV continuity.
If it is, then we know Cobra Commander lived through all that.
(Look up Transformers Season 3, "Only Human")
This totally makes up for the lack of death not shown in the cartoon.
Yep!
SCARLET DATASS.
Yep, dat ass indeed.
It's a crime this was never ported to the snes. Same with the Simpsons. 2 classic arcade games.
Good luck running this on a snes
@@affegpus4195 they ported a ton of arcade games to the SNES. They could have easily pulled this off.
GOT TO GET TOUGH....
YO JOE!!!
Porkchop sandwiches!

I could swear I saw that Cobra hover carrier at the beginning of G.I. Joe the Movie.
William Crowe indeed it is. Along with that awesome song.
The G.I. Joe arcade game is based on the 1990-1992 DIC/Claster G.I. Joe series and stars 4 characters on the show: Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, and Roadblock.
seems like it is based on the 80s version but with hints of the 90s.
They sure love that catch phrase....
Found this little anomaly at a hole in the wall arcade when I was a kid... For years I thought I imagined it..
It always slays me when they show the characters in the intro and someone yells “yojoe!” When they show SnakeEyes as if he said it. 🤦🏼♂️
All this hardware to stop one person? I'd love to see the budget for Cobra, and who's in charge of accounting!
either Destro, Baroness or Dr. Mindbender. Either way, those three can't balance a checking account if it saved their lives
*****
Well what would you expect from people who are so in love with their snake theme that they use it in just about everything they do and plan?
Steve Marlow I'd look up a youtube video called "Cobra Commander's Turkey Dinner" for the answer :D
Tomax and Xamot are in charge of accounting
that's easy, Steve Mnuchin XD
Great times... hanging around the arcades allday everyday... ^^
This was one of few arcade games I can beat with one coin when I was a kid
There is a comic book store here that has that machine in the back lots of fun
¡Qué bello recuerdo y yo jugaba mucho junto con mis amigos y era un video-juego muy formidable y gracias por este vídeo!!👍😊
Anyone else has noticed that the SFX when you pick a power up, sounds a lot to a SFX played during Robert Palmer's song "Simply Irresistible" xD
Holy shit, the Joes and Cobra can actually HIT what they shoot.
22:45 Oops, the emulation bugged out. That's supposed to be a fight on an underground lake! Which I think got bugged up to the ceiling.
YO-JOE!!!👍👍👍
The Cobra Flying Carrier vs The S.H.E.I.L.D. Helicarrier.
S.H.I.E.L.D*....lol
Metal Head doesn't scream "Bang" every time he fires. Missed opportunity there.
Its 2018 and they need to bring this to consoles, steam and mobile. Thankfully there is MAME emulation
I wish they would do that.
This is one mad game to put on the Arcade1up TMNT cab.
Wow, one mission in this game is almost about the same length of time as all the stages in Jurassic Park arcade.
Wow this was sure some crazy love letter to both the Sunbow-Marvel and DiC series. Also ending on a oxy moron, nice job Konami, LOL. :D
Yo, Joe! This game is the shizzle!
Body massage!
I always took time for this one at the arcade.
You gotta love that Konami voice acting.
Excelente juego vale la pena volver a jugarlo...ojala hagan un remak...
I loved this game whan I was a kid, looots of good memories! :)

remember those days when Major Bludd wore pink..and... carried a flame thrower...
The action figure of Major Bludd was released with some kind of sonic jetpack into the sonic fighters serie in 1992 or 1993 :)
Scarlet is just massacring these fools. I bet Cobra Commander didn't even offer them fools a good benefits package that included life insurance.
Scarlett is personally responsible for reducing the Cobra forces by half.
damn this looks fun
score another one for The Keeper of The Sword! however, I thought you guys at Team WOL already covered this game...please correct me if I'm wrong. anyways, keep up the grand preservation of electronic entertainment!
This guy is a rookie, I used to hit almost 1,000 points in the first round. I had mad hours playing with just one coin. This was cool game back in the 90's!
Cobra troops actually...DIE...in this? This is definitely not the cartoon!
SNARCast Productions They'd die occasionally in the cartoon, just not as blatantly, usually falling.
allen harper And it wasn't until the G.I. Joe movie that any of the Joes died.
If the cartoons taught me anything, it's this: If you're working for COBRA, and Scarlett starts backflipping... SURRENDER. You've already lost. ;-)

Terrible juego, jugarlo en un árcade era lo más!
Eres un excelente jugador buen video
Why is that in all games, Destro gets the best stages and boss fights?
Makes me wanna go watch the cartoon again from the 80's. Are all the episodes on UA-cam including the movie?
dorourke105 no I checked they used to but they took it out of the library and they also removed transformers classic
Baroness commercial should come right there where the wind machine grabbed her
Holy fuck I remember playing this at chuckle cheese and getting a cobra commander action figure from the prize selection.
My local Chuck E Cheese in Virginia had this too, right next to the Turtles in Time cabinet. Those two games took up 90% of my tokens.
This game was reminds me a pirated version G.I. Joe on the NES was changed to Street Fighter or Contra characters.
CHMICAL PLANT
Got to get tough go joe
limenine lemonfour not go yo joe
So was Devastators GI Joe, or was GI Joe Devastators?
HERE IT GOES BUT I DONT THINK COBRA COMMANDER IS THE ONLY ONE WHOS BEHIND ALL OF THIS OR WHATEVER THATS CALLED AND WHATEVER THAT IS AND PERFECTION CALLED OR WHATEVER THATS CALLED AND WHATEVER THAT IS
Yo Joe !!!
Chucky cheese finest arcade games
Give him the stickDONT GIVE HIM THE STICK!
This seems better than that Rise of Cobra game they put out in the current-gen consoles.
After defeating the final boss, the reactor have much high voltage, and suddenly start zapping and exploding all the cobra ship, the high voltage has continue zapping, but in all the ship, and is destroyed the high voltage zone, the ship has touched the floor, and has been provocate a big explode
This game looks fucking amazing.
And it's really good too.
Impressive, thanks.
GOT TO GET TOUGH! YO JOE!
G.I. Joe letter is the same letter of the game Devastators.
este juego esta para celulares android?
Excellent
All those technovipers just wanted to fix jets.
can anybody explain what happend to the 4player version of this game?
+AnGEl HisPANo It's a setting on the arcade board. You can choose between 2P and 4P operation (obviously, there's no point in turning on 4P mode if the arcade cabinet only has 2 joysticks).
redvenomweb Okay I already got this solved but thx for the late answer.
4:32 HOLY SHIT WHY DID THEY JUST DAB THIS WAS 1992
What does each boss say at encounter?
"Long live Cobra, the greatest. BWAHAHAHAHA!"
This is insane the joes and cobra couldn't hit targets
Heh, kinda looks like Space Harrier, minus the flying...

THE MAX SCORE HAS BEEN MINE.

15:53 Jungle Girls Murray's Cho Baitisa.
Valis picks the woman...of course. ;P
Konami was King of the arcades. Too bad they never seem to get the main theme songs for the games based on a show.
Is it me or are the games graphics really...odd.
LIke, it seems like there are constant graphical issues.
Also, how is that dirt acting like water Destro, or is that some camo shit?
yep, jungle stage 2 graphics are all broken in this emulation. Trees are missing and Water layer is missing and some others. Old video tho.
11:49 COOOOOBRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
Neo Viper
Was this a full arcade game (and not a Super Nintendo?)
Yes, full arcade game.
