Losing the first fight as an attacker could be a huge deal. A team of unorganized solo queue players might not get together again and will trickle in constantly. When the doors first open, everyone is together. The defense knows to stay near the objective but the offense will just keep splitting apart
In my opinion there are two defense styles. Conservative in your example where you react to attackers and always try to maintain an advantage (ult, numbers, position, etc) you turtle up and wait out the clock as much as possible. The second is a more aggressive style where you keep attackers staggered, fragmented, and never let them get organized enough to push. This is from ranked soloq experience as well as observations from some pro teams running rather aggressive defense comps. Thoughts?
have you ever thought about starting up a discord channel for your subscribers like youroverwatch? I feel like the discussions and team searching would be way more productive given the kind of mindset you encourage
If your team has any of the same heroes that makes it easier to keep track of how fast enemy gets ults since you can see your team's ults. Also play different heroes to get a sense for how slow each ult charges per hero and adjust for how well each time is winning a fight.
To add to this, keep your eyes on killfeed and players on fire to note the players who are doing very well. They will get their ult fast, not because of fire directly but they are doing consistent damage or heals!
I have a question about the "Ults are even ---> defender stalls": Let's say I'm on the defending team on point B volskaya industries, say I'm a Zarya with graviton available. If I understood you correctly I should try to save my ultimate until the enemy team uses theirs. I completely understand the reasoning behind this but here's the thing; what if the enemy team uses their offensive ultimates and as a result of them I die. I might not be able to get back to the point before it's captured or if I can make it there in time, there's a good chance most of my team mates won't be there to capitalize on my graviton. In that situations it's almost as if I didn't have my ultimate at all, I didn't manage to use it in any effective way.
Keld0rn your best case scenario when preemptively using your graviton on defence is that your ult wipes the entire enemy team. they're not stupid so they're not going to waste their ults trying to survive. they'll ress and 45 seconds later they're back. they've got all their ults, you've got none and you lose the game. end result: you wiped a team you lost the game. even the best case scenario puts you at a disadvantage. you should never use your ult offensively on defense unless you're 100% certain you can wipe them and there's less than a minute left on the clock.
Keld0rn It is late but what the heck. If you die, that is simply a bad misplay. You know you have a key ultimate, you should value your life and try to protect it at all cost. Now there is always a time when the enemy will blow their ults and kill you but the solution is not to ult before they do, it is to stay alive by predicting what they will do. Heck, you can even ult as soon as they use theirs. It is pretty rare for a tank to get blown up in 1s, before he or she can react. Think of this as a irl fight. Can you counter an attack before it happens? No. However, you can read them and be prepare to react as soon as they do it. In short, preemtive ults are risky as hell, it is better to train yourself how to read your opponents and be ready to react to their ults.
Thanks again for your awesome vids, Sky I noticed that at your stream page there're still no recorded vids. Have yo forgotten to enable it or have there been no streams since I asked about it? I'd love to watch your gameplay :)
MisterSinister It changes whenever the meta changes. Mercy pharah used to be extremely good. Zenyatta used to be the only healer played, then mercy and lucio later on. Now, Tanks and Ana work together. (Zenyatta + Squishies) (Ana + Tanks)
I don't understand though, if the defending team is always holding onto their ults, don't they increase the chance that the other team will wipe the point and snowball to capture the point?
Curious for your impressions of a 4k SR Lucio video that's circulating in the community- 'Vindication' by DSPStanky (ua-cam.com/video/VcA3cCQfe3s/v-deo.html) I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on the playstyle DSPtanky uses (and NOT the PC vs console flame war). He seems to have taken to an extreme an approach that you championed in a vod review that Lucio often ought to be more aggressive and act like an annoying mosquito. A popular Lucio content creator recently made a video criticizing the playstyle because it's not team-support focused (ults being used to save self, auras used for wall riding, amp it up for self heal, etc.).
In attack I would go for Zarya, since you have 5 other dps any good ultimate from you should be enough to win any team fight. In defense I would go for Mercy or Symmetra, those heroes are squishy, you cannot save all of them in a fight. Mercy can rez them, Symmetra will give them more health and a way to come back to the point fast enough. Lucio could do it as well.
widow hanzo sombra genji - go winston, counters all 4. junkrat spam - go zarya to gain charge and kick ass. You can keep a rein as well to shield the healers like ana or lucio. Zenyatta is slow and I won't pick him. DPS can be Mccree or sol76 who's in meta now. Sol76 for that auto aim ult
when you have high ground, you can easily disengage the fight by taking few steps back, heal up and start firing again. you are also less vulnerable against certain abilities like a rein charge.
It gives you better cover, better view of the map, and more options for angles to attack. Depending on the hero it is also easy to aim down than up, such as junkrat.
An Offensive ult can kill or cripple multiple team members, while a defensive ultimate can save multiple team members. If you go in one man up, but they have extra ults which each save one or two team members, then you're actually at a disadvantage, and have to be smart and not hand the best-use cases of the enemy ultimates to them on a silver platter. Ultimates allow heroes to momentarily be 'bigger than themselves', 'larger-than-life', profoundly affect those around them with a huge skill in addition to their 'normal' kit, or however you want to picture it.
Naaa the reaper in my team prefers to use his death blossom on attack vs 6 enemies in Volskaya 2nd objective .. Gg defeat welcome to Diamond again scrub

your vids are great man, ive been looking for really in depth OW videos. you gained a sub from me.
any tips on keeping track of enemy ultimate charge?

Can you make a video about Symmetra's rework? I'd love to hear what you think.

You should do what heroes synergize with others well, and what they counter.

Great shot lad!
The biggest advantage is communication vs. no/less communication
:O Great video!

What do I do if I have a widow, hanzo, sombra, genji, junkrat on my team?
Cynsclan play Bastion

Icemanz666 He meant on his team, not the enemy team.
MuddyPuddle Spotted that late, then the answer is lose.
Can you make a vid on high ground I don't know why its so good?
It's harder to shoot someone who's on higher ground.

beyblades spin and move quickly
That sonic made me laugh.
Subbed! :D
Can't do much when your in silver and you get 4 dps 1 tank and 1 support every game
