Must say - Scot is a kind but firm teacher - explaining everything so we can learn and know why he does what he does - I certainly learnt a lot from his series of videos - THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Thanks for doing this series. You really did a fantastic job at demonstrating how to teach and respond to your horse while simultaneously doing it yourself, that's no easy task. Well done.

Scott - I just got my first thoroughbred and have been looking for some good training videos to learn how to get rid of some vices she has from her racing days. I discovered your series on OTTB's on UA-cam and really like how you train horses. Because it's been many years since I had a horse and have never trained one, I don't completely understand what you are doing, but the more I watch, the more it's beginning to sink in. Anyway, I love what you do and how you do it. Thank you!

I want to thank you for the 8 videos I feel you gave a lot of good information, I am new to owning a horse and have a ½ Appaloosa and ½ Thoroughbred and have very similar problems with him.
    Thanks again

Fabulous information on the training a OTB thankyou. I have been given one and have the same issues. Stopping and gate sour, plus he won’t stand still to mount. Head in the air and fights me all the way. You have given me tactical moves to assist this horses progress in a calm manner .

I truly liked this series. And learned a lot. It reveled to me that training a horse 6 days a week is not required. Results may me faster while it may not be better but training a horse can be done without being on a schedule. As you said it the real world people most people have a job and don't see their horse but twice a week.
I found you on RFD TV and found these videos on UA-cam. I like your attitude, patience and kindness to the horse. I have been watching and following other clinicians. I have discovered clinicians do the same exercises to reach the same goal but some are more aggressive. I don't find you aggressive and you accomplish the same goal. Example; desensitizing, some head straight for the horse with the object and keep going till he stands still. And that works but it seems dangerous at times. I tried to desensitize my Belgian, an x-pulling horse to the stick and string and it was not working with the head on approach. I quit and the next day did your process of walking away and it worked great.
I also like your shows because you seem to want to be honest and when you miss that 3 second window to make a correction you out right admit that you missed it.
I look forward to seeing more of your shows. I am sure to learn a lot from them.

I just have to say, I love this series with Yogi, and I love how you work with her. I feel like there's a lot of trainers that use fear motivation and intimidation, and I don't think that ever works with horses, so I love instead that you work on building confidence and a partner relationship with mutual respect!! She certainly came so far and made such astounding progress for only a little over a week's worth of work. If everything goes according to plan, I'm going to be working on retraining some OTTB's over the next few months, and this has definitely given me some training exercise ideas :)Can you give us an update on Yogi? Was she adopted, and if so, how's she doing?

Hannah Bodner hi Hannah! I adopted her about two and a half years ago. She's doing great! She's fat and happy and still spooks at gates and cats occasionally when I'm not paying attention.

Hey Scott! I have a 10 year old off the track! He no longer races and has been a trail and ranch horse for at least 5 years now and is really well rounded! He is one of the best horses I own! The only issue I run into is when other horses run around him! He has a hard time collecting himself and he thinks it’s a race after that! He will side step and trot the rest of the way and you have to keep pressure on him and hold him back which makes it miserable for the rider! Any advice? Should I just work on more exercises on collecting? Or is it just too wired in his brain?

Wonderful to watch but can't help thinking that a running martingale could help with the head slinging.

As of now, so doesn't need a martingale or any other sort of gadgets. She's still bit less (hooray) and doing great. She pops right into frame and keeps it.

+Hot Toddie did you adopt her? She seems like such a funny, good horse.

Running martingales don't help with anything....ever.
