See U In History, you guys are amazing. First you gave us the Trojan War. Then the voyage of Odysseus. Now we need the journey of Aeneas to complete the trilogy. The Iliad, Odyssey and Aeneid all wrapped up together like this would be epic.
When I read Homer epic, one thing astonished me is the narrative structure of odyssey, it’s very modern and complicated. I can’t believe it’s written 3000 years ago.
Because it was translated to be comprehended by modern readers. The writing style is actually that of the scholars translating it and not the original text.
@@BurritoBandito140 wait wait, language maybe be adjusted for fitting for modern readers, but even the whole structure also changed in translating? then it's awful.
@alexzhu4710 yes. Often when ancient texts are translated they do not make sense, their sentence structure is rough to read for the modern audience so the translator is tasked with keeping to the premise of the work but can restructure sentences to make the flow better or to aid comprehension. If you want the best true to form experience of the Iliad you have to read it in the original language. Same with great works like the Bible.

Greek mythology is my favorite mythology. I'll summarize it for the youngings in few words. Human insult god, God keep grudges, Human suffer, Human regret, repeat with different human and different plot. Greek mythology in a nutshell.
😃👏🎉 Now that was greatest complete story of The ILIAD and the ODYSSEY of Homer Adventures in Mythology. This is masterpiece and classic from beginning to the end!
My man your animation are just awesome, the way of your story telling would even bring smile to the face of homer, Eagerly waiting for Aenied though - the virgils masterpiece and classic end to this trilogy is really needed !!
I get so confused because others say that Odysseus killed Astyanax, but in other sources, it was Neoptolemus who threw the kid from the walls. can someone explain 😅 cool video btw ! the Iliad and the odyssey is genuinely so entertaining and its awesome people still appreciate it even after at least 3000 yrs ago !

Who illustrated all of this? I see no credits for the art/narration or music. Anyways what an enjoyablething to have on youtube, truly timeless, well done!
Thanks, we are so glad to read your comment! The art and narration are by our See U in History team, we use music from the Epidemic Sound library. Artist credits are in the individual videos for each series. You can check it out on our channel, the Iliad and the Odyssey have several videos for each story.
Rhaegar & Lyanna = Paris & Helen. Stanis sacrificing his daughter just like Agamemnon did. I can tell that JRR Martin took a lot of inspiration from the Iliad for his book series.
At 3:46:00 it states Ajax the great died on the seas but at 2:34:00 he dies by plunging a sword into himself. Is this an error by the author of the video or error due to obscure records from which these tales derived?
Correct me if I’m wrong but in the beginning he says priams second child was destined to ruin Troy but wasn’t it his older sister Cassandra who foresaw that? She had the ability to tell the future and that’s how they first learned it. Maybe another version was told this way

Came down this road thanks to Epic the Musical and the Blood of Zeus and I am not regretting it!😁

Hold up! The art work was custom made for the video!?!? SERIOUSLY??? It's such high quality that I just assumed it was pulled from some graphic novel!
Not mermaids but sirens, mythical songbirds with woman's heads and sweet bewitching voices luring sailors toward their death by drowning.
This is quite impressive. I hope one day you will cover the epics of China, like the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the Water Margin
