    NOTE: A number of times during this video, Pep forgets that he had a wonder built that would have given him access to resources that he ends up paying for. In total, he paid 9 coins more than necessary.

    About the game: It probably is a better variation of 7 Wonders for 2 players (I've never played the 2 player variation of the original game, but it feels like it's very awkward). But I'll stick to the original and gather more people to play =)

    On several occasions, Pep paid for brick when he could have obtained 1 brick from the Great Lighthouse. I think he completely forgot that that wonder provided that benefit to him.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  8 років тому

      +Larry Schneider I'd be interested to get a time stamp where you saw this happen. Typically, when we make a rules mistake of that level, we get several comments. Yours was the first I've seen related to that.

    • @LarrySchneider
      @LarrySchneider 8 років тому +12

      +Watch It Played Actually, I ended up staying up way too late and just finished watching it, Rodney. Here are my corrections (all from this 3rd video):
      2:56 Pep is entitled to take 7 Gold for discarding the Siege Workshop, not 6. But he discovers this mistake later in the video.
      3:36 Pep pays 4 for the Arsenal when he should have only paid 2.
      5:43 Pep pays 3 for the Circus when he should have only paid 1.
      7:14 Pep pays 2 for the Tactician’s Guild when he should have only paid 1.
      8:32 Pep pays 2 for the Armory when he should have only paid 1.
      9:28 Pep pays 2 for the Obelisk when he should have only paid 1.
      10:13 Pep pays 2 for the Gardens when he should have gotten for free.
      So in the end, Pep overpaid by 9 coins, all due to the fact that he consistently forgot about the benefit from his Great Lighthouse. I don't think it would have changed the outcome of the game, but it's worth noting in the video.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  8 років тому +11

      +Larry Schneider Wow! You're right Larry. He did forget (and so did I). And more people would have likely seen it, if we could have gotten the far side of his wonders into the shot.

    • @WatchItPlayed

      The threes are the symbols for victory points, the other cards show resources and coins. You only calculate victory points at this time.

  • @pliploffor
    @pliploffor 8 років тому

    Hi! I have a question about the calculation. How do you calculate the swords (red background, with two crossed swords? And also what does the red and green symbol (at the bottom of the calculation paper) means?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  8 років тому +2

      Hey Christoffer - at the end of the game, you get victory points based on where the war token ended up (if it is in your opponents half of the war track. You'll see this explained in our instructional video.
      I'm not exactly sure what those sections of the score sheet are for. I thought perhaps you checked them off if a player had a Military or Science victory - just as a way of keeping track of games you played.

    Interesting. While playing, did you feel like you could afford any resources necessary? It seems like between the commerce and guild cards, you had so much money you didn't even NEED half of the resources you had. This seems very different from standard 7 Wonders where you could easily back yourself into a corner if you didn't get enough resources.

And another question, can you put the guild card under a wonder to build it just like other age cards?

    I did not expect Rodney to win this game in the end, that was quite a shock, I really thought Pep was going to win for sure given that every move he made throughout the game was beneficial for him and his strength in science, military and commerce at the end. I also thought it was hilarious that the narrative for Pep's civilization is that it flourished in science with the scientists going berserk and joining the military, which led to its utter downfall. Overall, great gameplay series as usual, it was extremely entertaining with funny outtakes. I bet Pep was somewhat disappointed at the end result.

      Right, you choose a card from the display as normal, but instead of paying it's cost, you pay the Wonders cost and then slip that card face down underneath the wonder as an indicator that the Wonder has been constructed.

    So having 4 pairs of science immediately wins the game? Also, does "red" cards provide any points? Thank you

    Great playthrough and very helpful. The instructions included in the game are a bit ambiguous at times and this made it much more clear.

    You said that he needed one more science symbol to win, but as he had two that were the same, he should have needed two to win the game. Am I correct, or am I misunderstanding something?

      +Monarchyman1 Look at the layout at 10:54. Notice that Pep, in addition to the science buildings, also has a Science symbol on that large round token - which also counts as a science symbol. So he had 5 unique symbols. Hope that helps.

    If you pick up an accessible age card and it has resources on it, can you use those resources in the building of your Wonder? Or do you have to have the cost(ed) of the Wonder available in the cards you already have?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  7 років тому

      You would not be able to use the card you took for it's resources, in that case.

    When Pep takes the lighthouse near the beginning of the third age, shouldn't he only collect 4 coins? You can't include the lighthouse when you add up the yellow cards, can you? That doesn't seem right.

      Hey Barry, I shot this long enough ago that I'd need a time stamp to look up the section you are referring to.

    4:43 - Cost you only 2? Doesn't the enemy produce glass so you need to pay at least 2+1 (he owns 1 glass) for 1 glass? so that in total should be 3+3-1-1 ( -1 for bonus gold) ?

      Hey, you'll find this covered in the tutorial video we created for the game, here: ua-cam.com/video/SxQkMRUvCJ8/v-deo.html
      Pep has a market card that reduces the future cost of all glass he purchases to 1 (it doesn't matter how much glass I now have).
