the amount of fake information is staggering, first of all they are mixing the Ant Financial (part of Alibaba)'s credit system with an unrelated national black list. Ant Financial's system is no different from the credit rating in the west. as for the state back system, it's not a score, it's just a black list of people who have violated court order or committed petty crimes, this is just an extrajudicial way of slapping them on the wrist. since the judicial system in China is not comprehensive enough, such method is an effective way of policing the country. Btw, I've seen the blacklisted Journalist's story in several western media reports, this can only mean such punishments for journalists is quite rare to the point that most western news agencies can't find a second person in his predicaments. BUT you can see his story from 2 different angles, one is the western perspective of a wronged journalist, or just a guy who violated an court order, since he was sued for defamation and if I remember correctly refused to pay a fine.

The APP shown at 0:32, is an app from Alibaba, which is a third party app. There are totally 8 third party organizations providing this kind of credit evaluation service, approved by the People's Bank of China (governmental). Common circumstances is credit card application. Base on your score, banks could evaluate the risk of approving your application. Also, when you are applying the visa of a certain country, a higher score means you don't have to provide the monthly statement from your bank. For instance, a 750 or higher for Canadian visa. Since this is a third party score, if you are not using this app, you will not have a score. For the past 4 years, I was in the US for college, I was not a user of this app. And naturally I don't have this score. Now I am completely fine without this score. It's not like the project insight, okay? It's all about money.

The biggest problem is everybody’s compliance with it, even support of it. They talk about the necessity of a civil society but have no problem with fellow humans being publicly shamed for their scores or having to pay more to visit a library or take a train.
I’d be afraid of this coming to the West, but we already treat people this way if they have bad credit (can’t get a bank loan), low-paying job (“That’s their fault!”), or have a criminal record no matter how ridiculous the crime (“Shouldn’t break the law!”)

the amount of fake information is staggering, first of all they are mixing the Ant Financial (part of Alibaba)'s credit system with an unrelated national black list. Ant Financial's system is no different from the credit rating in the west.
as for the state back system, it's not a score, it's just a black list of people who have violated court order or committed petty crimes, this is just an extrajudicial way of slapping them on the wrist. since the judicial system in China is not comprehensive enough, such method is an effective way of policing the country.
Btw, I've seen the blacklisted Journalist's story in several western media reports, this can only mean such punishments for journalists is quite rare to the point that most western news agencies can't find a second person in his predicaments. BUT you can see his story from 2 different angles, one is the western perspective of a wronged journalist, or just a guy who violated an court order, since he was sued for defamation and if I remember correctly refused to pay a fine.

The APP shown at 0:32, is an app from Alibaba, which is a third party app. There are totally 8 third party organizations providing this kind of credit evaluation service, approved by the People's Bank of China (governmental). Common circumstances is credit card application. Base on your score, banks could evaluate the risk of approving your application. Also, when you are applying the visa of a certain country, a higher score means you don't have to provide the monthly statement from your bank. For instance, a 750 or higher for Canadian visa. Since this is a third party score, if you are not using this app, you will not have a score. For the past 4 years, I was in the US for college, I was not a user of this app. And naturally I don't have this score. Now I am completely fine without this score. It's not like the project insight, okay? It's all about money.
