Nick did this with the assumption it was a long term save; you had the advantage of knowing you didn't need to plan for anything beyond the first season... among other advantages
I think Z’s chances of winning this challenge fell dramatically the moment he wasn’t able to sell any of his players to Saudi Arabia. If I remember correctly Nick got quite lucky with getting Varane off the books to Saudi.
What he got for Varane he spent it for Antonio Silva basically. Game is not as deep as people like to think. It's just dice with some skill on the side. At one point in the UCL he played against City with a 3-4-3, Shaw-Pepe-Silva as WCB, BPD, WCB and proceeded to throw Casemiro-Mainoo-Mount-Fernandes as DM-DLP-BWM-AP with Rashford-Martial-Garnacho upfront. That shit got him the W against City. There is no football pitch in this world where that would work. FM is just Dungeons & Dragons with a lot of Excel sheets, stats and strategy help, but nothing beats a nat20.
@@Carsa-is6vb Well, Nick didnt really have as many injuries and losing bruno is a deathnail to a united side in it's first season. Like half the creative play goes through him. Kvar also didn't perform for Zealand at all which was wild

one thing i noticed with myself is that by years, I have completely became hopeless. Compared to when I started, FM was something easier and I can win loads of games. This is maybe due to loads of overthinking and influences I've gotten from FM creators on "how the roles/instructions/tactics" work. Where in the past, I just created tactics based on how real life teams played. I hope I can comeback being on top of my game soon.
I'm trying this but on real world mode. Kinda regret it. I'm in January, 5th place, xg table says I'm getting screwed, Onana is the second worst GK in the league (weirdly ederson is the worst). I hate Martial, he has a grand total of 0 goals from 10 games and Hojland didn't score until his 11th game. Fernandes sucks at pens, but has finally scored one after missing his first 4. Casemiro please stop getting red cards. On the bright side, Rashford and Maguire are currently the heros holding everything somewhat together. Tempted to give Maguire a new contract😂.
Bringing in decent but not great players on loan was your downfall. Enciso, Kubo and Barcola are bizarre signings, and no better than what's there. Awoniyi was just an insanely bad signing.

We've either learned that FM is way more random than we might like to think it is Or that having vast, legacy knowledge on the game is actually a hindrance
My unbeaten Man United season 1 team used... wide midfielders. And an enganche. All the best roles that no one uses. It's very effective, just hard to find the guys to fit WM perfectly. We did draw a lot. I was simulating and by Christmas, we had drawn 7 and weren't even top of the league. So I had to jump in and it turned out we had a big injury crisis. But I still believe in the 4-4-2-ish.

Bro how tf did you do perform so badly as Man United manager? I had an unbeaten season while winning the FA Cup and losing the Champions League semi-final to Real Madrid. But tbf I also lost the League Cup final to Citeh. With United you just need to run a double pivot (BWM and DLP) with wing backs on attack or support. If wingbacks are on attack set your wingers or IF’s to support and visa versa. Just run Højlund as a Complete Forward or Advanced forward. Bruno attacking midfield. Two BPD’s and Onana as support SK. You run an overlap control possession tactic with intense pressing because United have athletes. I have played 5 separate saves with United and always run the first two seasons like this and I always win the league and win the league and champions league in the second season. I win cups here and there sometimes. I have pulled off a treble either in my first or second season at least 60% of the time. United are super easy. I have recently started a new save with the new updates and transfers from the start. I have not lost a match yet.
Had Z got any other keeper, he would’ve actually had a chance at winning something. Why is Onana that useless? I know he’s not that good in real life but he’s jumping over the ball in these games.
With most teams you can just plug in a 4231 Gegenpress and massively over-achieve with no signings, though this does seem to be a bit harder than it was on previous FMs but not by much. I got Palace into 4th on FM22 first season IIRC.
I won Champions League with Atalanta in 2 seasons with a Champions League season where the odds of us winning the whole thing was 500-1. Ultimately ended up winning on penalties after a 0-0 game at the end of extra time against Liverpool with a 4231 tactic. Barley finishing top 8 on GD definitely played a factor in making it possible and winning 2 out of the 3 ties where our home legs were played first by 2 goals or more because we were definitely not better than our oppositions base of quality of players as a whole so home legs was key. Won against Real Madrid 3-0 in the semis in the first leg at home and surprisingly just having a draw in the second. Also ended up winning Serie A by 1 point. After that legendary 2024/25 season (did change some things up with the 4231 tactic because I know that wasn't happening again in each of the following seasons) won the Champions League Finals 3 seasons in a row all against Real Madrid. Team was obviously better during those seasons but we were still not favorites to win the whole thing for all those seasons. Oh well. Don't listen to media predictions people.
Zealand just Pep it, he overthink and overdoing it, loaning players from Brighton and Sociedad ? that's good if you played newly promoted team, but Man Utd ? you could've loaned players from Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich, come on Z, finished 4th and trophyless with Man Utd is poor result even for someone who just started to play FM.
