    yall there are more eating disorders than anorexia. i would say that girl probably has arfid... eating obviously disturbs her but it doesn't seem to be due to body image. unfortunately i think they only diagnose that after failed medical interventions like feeding tubes.

      Well-said. She doesn’t fit the diagnosis for Anorexia but you can’t blame these people for making that assumption. Similar to Bulimia, BED, OSFED, PICA, Dysphagia and ED-DMT1, ARFID hasn’t had enough exposure.

    • @jessicastunden5562
      @jessicastunden5562 4 роки тому +9

      Sophie Marshall yes but this is likely a problem brought on only recently. She’s been able to have two healthy toddlers, which is something people as underweight as her can struggle with. ARFID is a term that has only recently reached the DSM-5 so she probably was unable to seek a correct assessment or perhaps she has and it was decided that exposure therapy would benefit her. That’s essentially what this show is for the SuperSkinny folk. It’s actually quite brilliant. Sorry to blather on, I just find this diagnosis so interesting.

      they're not required for normal growth and development. plenty of responsible mothers will only provide vegetables if asked to by the child.

      @brooke h the single best predictor of how tall you will be is your protein intake. there is no nutrient in vegetables (which historically were eaten as filler food only) that cannot be gleaned in a greater quantity from other sources.

      Ellenor Malik unfortunately you are wrong the body needs antioxidants which predominantly come from fruit and vegetables it is the parent’s responsibility to make sure there children have the correct nutritional intake on a daily basis.

      @@matthewwilliams4168 the master antioxidants in the body are glutathione, made of amino acids found in meat, and uric acid, made from our species' fucked up purine metabolism. vitamin C is secondary (we don't need very much per diem) and is used to regenerate glutathione. all 3 can be found in sufficient quantities for almost everyone in raw or undercooked (I would prefer undercooked over raw because at least there's some predigestion) meat. fruit, meanwhile, mainly contains overdoses of vitamin C (not harmful), and an overdose of sugar (harmful), meanwhile vegetables are, at best, crunchy water with a bit of ascorbate & folate (and these I'd recommend consuming, but don't make a child eat them if the child rejects them - our prey image is red shit, like carcass and fruit, not green shit like kale and, frankly, mucus), and at worst, little shops of endogenous pesticide that you are eating thinking that it's anti-oxidative.
      Don't get me started on grains. That shit is nasty.

      @@matthewwilliams4168 since it's the parent's responsibility to ensure a child has a correct nutritional intake, and fruit and vegetables just aren't part of our natural diet, I would never even let a vegetable near any children I were to have. a bit of fruit during summer, yes, because I don't want them to starve while I go bankrupt in the winter, and fruit is naturally designed to be fattening for us. but not vegetables. they're unnecessary and, for many, toxic.

    I have a big problem with fat nurses. I visit the hospital for my diabetes and struggle to take advice from massively overweight nurses who clearly aren’t practicing what the preach.

    • @ellenorbjornsdottir1166

      The trouble is that oftentimes, they are practicing what they preach - a calorie controlled low fat diet. So the fat they do eat goes straight to their thunder thighs because all the carbohydrates inhibit fat oxidation.

      @@najah1819 "carbophob" Lol. Is a misspelled "-phobia" all you got, wisearse? At no point am I actually being "carbophobic" - the human body needs a blood sugar level to live. However, it can make this by itself. "Eating too many calories" is not a cause for weight gain, but as I said in my earlier comment, simply a way of saying that the person is gaining weight. It happens when you grow exceedingly tall, and it happens when you grow rotund. Until you drill down into why the person is gaining weight, just starving them (making them eat less of the same diet) is punishing them for something they didn't do and tearing their organs apart, and not really solving their problem.
