Oh I'm so sorry you missed the event, public transport is so frustrating! At least you'll have this beautiful dress to wear at another event. The trimmimg is just gorgeous and I love your Edwardian boots too. And your dog is so adorable, I really giggled with his cute expressions! 🥰💕💕
Thank you very much Arietta 💕 Lovely to hear from you, hope all well! You can imagine how I felt seeing the photos with Bernadette Banner etc the next day! I do have to admit, though, that other people’s costumes were full on 19th century historical dress with trains etc (definitely not candidates for public transport!) How did they all get there?! It’s a mystery. Taxis in London now are super expensive and so is parking, if you can park at all. Thank you about the dog too. She really is super inter-active. I’m typing with her draped over my shoulders trying to catch my fingers in her mouth! ❤️🌺🐾
What a gorgeous dress! I’m so sorry you didn’t make it to the event, London transport is so awful…I can’t believe they sold you a ticket to a non-existing train 😡

I was hoping someone would notice that I matched the dogs! 🐾 🤍🖤🐾 They would have played more part in the Reveal footage if I’d had my way but they’d glued themselves firmly to the sofa! That night I’d say my emotions came to match those of the National Rail staff. I’d describe it as weary resignation. Once torrential rain set in as I began my walk home (without an umbrella) I realised this was going to be a night to remember. Not in a good way. I shall be sure to find an occasion to wear my dress though. And the dogs can be accessory dogs, which will be a novelty for them! Thank you very much for watching and supporting 💐
Hi Samantha! As always you have the most beautiful collection of buttons and trims! 😍 I can definitely see why you wanted to use the buttons. I would want to too. The dress turned out gorgeous! Oh my goodness that's awful what happened with the train. Why in the world did they sell the ticket then?! 😱 How dreadful. 😖 Well either way the dress really is quite lovely. I'm thrilled to hear that the pattern was easy to work with. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Laura! Yes, all those nerves I went through before the party too. What with my nerves (I sound like Mrs Bennett!!), the hours of sewing, the getting ready to go out, by the time I got to Victoria station I wanted it all to be for something 🙄 The staff were nice … I imagine spending their Saturday evenings with crowds of disappointed commuters must dampen their spirits too! And a woman standing in front of them in an Edwardian dress and tango boots was something a bit different 😂 I’m so pleased you like the dress. I have to confess it wouldn’t have been up to the event where much fancier outfits prevailed (definitely not ones that you’d wear taking public transport!) And thank you for always appreciating my buttons and trims when they come out of my squirrelled away store! 💐
Thank you very much! 💕 Honestly, I’ve been looking at it … in its various stages! … so long I couldn’t really see it anymore to know what it looked like. So pleased you like it! 💐
Oh, noooo, Samantha! What a horrible tale when you tried to reach the Edwardian event! These are the momtntes in life we feel beaten... But your dress is marvellous! I totally love it.
Thank you very much Josephine 💕 The worst thing was that, when I booked, the event was nearby in west London. That’s why I booked! Then, after I booked, they changed the venue. I love what the Society of Salome does but I wouldn’t dare book anything else with them in case the venue changes! 💕
Your dress is beautiful Samantha and I adore the Edwardian trim, what a shame you didn’t reach the event. Sadly customer service is not the same anymore and fancy them letting you buy a ticket without explaining the round about route you would have to take. Xx ❤️🌺
Thank you very much Lenore 💕 Isn’t the Edwardian trim a thing of beauty?! And you know the crazy thing is that half the time it’s less expensive than modern trim to buy! (Though I know this has a lot to do with problematic laundering!) The staff at the station were actually nice … just worn down by the system!! It’s not hard to imagine why! Anyway the dogs were delighted that my attempt to go out socialising without them had gone so wrong. They hope I’ve learned my lesson! 💗💐xx

How lovely your Edwardian dress turned out! 😍 I adore all the trimmings you added. What a bummer about the event though! That sounds stressful and annoying 😢
Thank you very much Katie 💕 Yes, I was so anxious about going in on my own and had spent the whole week psyching myself up for it. Having done that, sewn the dress, spent ages getting ready, and travelled part of the way there I would definitely have liked to actually have arrived at it. It was me breaking out of my comfort zone. Of course I’m now even more entrenched in my homebody ways!! 😄💗💐
This dress is lovely!! The beautiful lace really pops off of the cream dress. The shoes are the perfect finishing touch!! So sorry about the subpar transit system. I can’t believe you were sold a ticket to a nonexistent train and told you could make two stops and walk 20 minutes in rainy conditions 😮!!
I know!! The rail staff were trying to be helpful. It’s just that the options weren’t good! Honestly, I’m such a wimp about going out in the evening, let alone to events, this has not encouraged me. I foresee many more evenings on the sofa with the dogs in my immediate future. Of course they were delighted by the turn of events and seeing me back home 😂 I’m so pleased you like the cream dress with the black bead and lace trimmings. I’ve seen so many Impressionist etc paintings of women in similar monochrome dresses I wanted to make one myself. Thank you very much for all your support 💐
You made your Edwardian dress! It turned out so lovely especially with the trim! I’m working on my Edwardian gown currently, too. Black accents but pink fabric. My pattern has no instructions other than the bodice opens on the left side. I’m stumped and need to do a lot of research. I do own a couple original bodices but they are front and back closing… I’m so sorry to hear your tale of woe. I don’t know what I would have done. Probably scared the train workers with my tears and hysterics. Hopefully you can find another event soon to debut your beautiful gown at.
But will Bernadette Banner be at the next event?! I fear not. It’s not that I would have actually spoken to her. It would just have been nice to be in the same room. Saying that, I’m actually agonisingly shy. Of course, when I’m out, I pretend not to be. But it’s there. I’m so pleased you like the dress. I worked up the courage to speak and said something along the lines of, “oh, you finished the dress! It looks so lovely!” (She had been blogging about it) Then she looked at me like, “do I know you?” I turned red and said, “oh, sorry! I read your blog…” it was so awkward. More so on my end I’m sure due to my nervous shyness. 😂

I'm sorry it showed its bad side at the time you needed it. :( And the fact they sold you a ticket for a non-existent connection is mind-boggling, there's a bad service and then there's this. But on the bright side, you made a wonderful dress, with a great choice of trimming, a stellar look. :)
Thank you very much 💕 I’ve spent much of my life on public transport (due to having divorced parents who choose to live as far apart as they can geographically get!) and I know that I totally forget all the times things go well. It’s the nightmare trips that lodge firmly in the memory! The staff at Victoria station were lovely actually… there was just an air of weary resignation. It’s lovely to know you like the dress. I’ve been looking at it for so long I can’t see it anymore if you know what I mean?! Thank you for watching too! 💐
How disappointing for you, especially after making such a lovely dress, I am sure another occasion will come up where you can wear your beautiful creation x
Thank you very much 💕 I’m not very good about going to parties! This was incredibly brave for me. I took the (literal) raining on my plans as a sign I should stay home with the dogs. They were in full agreement. Next time I venture out I will definitely wear my dress though! Thank you so much for watching too 💐
Oh my goodness I hate it when I can’t hear you guys. And yes, I turned up the volume. Y’all need to test your sounds more than one. Love to watch you, but we need to hear you also.
I’m seeking advice at the moment on what I can do tech wise to improve the sound quality of my videos. Hoping to improve! Thank you for your feedback.
