Fortress Badabaskor was one of our all-time favourites when we played it back in the day. It was 1978-79, so our group were only 13-14 years of age, but that is still no excuse for what I recall most - on level one, the Ogres in room 3 being rendered unconscious by the party, dragged quietly down the long corridor, and then fired out of the ballistas in room 1. Happy days, thanks for the nostalgia hit!
Thanks for the comment, and thanks for sharing that memory -- that is a great story. There's no end to the unexpected creativity of players and in those middle school years things tended to get a little zany!
For Critical Hits and Fumbles, we used the Arduin Grimoire tables. They were brutal and easily adjusted for weapon type(slashing cut off an arm but mace types crushed them, etc). Had a fighter go into a 10x10 room swinging his two handed sword. I told the DM I was backing out. Everyone else suffered the effects of his fumble 😮
Being a Were-Creature can really suck! Our high level group got turned in various Were-Creatures when we took some cursed treasure. Took a couple of months to figure out that the "nasty beast" roaming our lands was indeed ourselves! There was an article in a magazine for a creature called The Man-Beast. It was an actual character class that you could be.
I think it's a fun idea for adventurers. In the early days it seemed like lycanthropy was a big threat for our players. Everyone had wolfsbane and silver weapons back then.
Yes it was. JG had 4 different printings (with different colors used on the covers), and then in 2007 Goodman Games did a re-issuance of this adventure.
Perfect timing. I like how the giant has the shield tied around his thigh for armor. Great stuff! Thanks for the share!!
Yes, I thought that was a really neat illustration. Glad you liked the video - it's a fun adventure, too.

Ouch! The Arduin rules were full of useful ideas.

Yes, that most definitely is a giant. He could walk up the steps behind him 3 at a time.
Yep ... not sure where he fits in there, but he's a big boy.
Think the company was called Goodman games?
Exactly - great company that has done a lot to preserve some of the great JG products and recently they've even done some 5e conversions.
Was this reprinted for d20 system?
