    Given that Europe has such a "long" rich history.......is metal detecting a really big hobby there??? I would be digging up the entire continent if I was over there.....best regards from the USA

    Just go slow and low if you go over it you should find it.
    I got my son the ace 250.
    I use the Explorer 11
    We have club members who have found hammered with the ace.

    thanks for ur response mate. ive recently purchased the ace 250 :) ive had some nice stuff musket balls and a few georgian 2nd coins also some spendable cash and lots of junk,however im learning the machine now so the equations are more positive against the scrap,what kit do you use,im really dyin to find a hammered coin,it will hopefully come in time, lovin this hobby:)

    whats the average depth of coins of this period? i know theirs many variables but just roughly,would a starter machine be able to detect these things as they lay,thanks

    Average 2-4" you better with a good second hand machine or deasent starter like an Ace 250 don,t get a chepo you need to spend a minimum of £180 - £300
