Thanks Pat. I was quite stunned at how bright it was to the naked eye way up here - I had been expecting something dim-ish for seeing but best seen in the longer exposure but wow, I was so wrong. Such a fantastic experience.
What a rare treat we had still hoping we get another night of it but it'll be one we'll never forget, lovely timelapse mate you got some beautiful shots.
Thanks Tich. I was expecting to be only able to pick it up on camera and see only a hint with my eyes but boy, at one stage it was so bright and clear and lighting up so much of the sky. Yes definitely a rare treat and like you, hoping for another event before the sun goes back to its sleeping cycle.
Cheers Simon. It was certainly quite the display. Never in my life would I have imagined I could see it in the skies over Auckland. Glad you had a cracking display also.
Beautiful Logan…..I’m so annoyed as I am away on a walking holiday with my father and got no kit at all with me as had to travel light….☹ And it’s been fantastic back at home…
I live in the far north and it never even registered to me that any storm, let alone this one, would be something that I could capture. I started seeing pictures drop from people in Auckland so rushed outside with my gear and wasn't disappointed. What a wonderful thing it is that so many more people have been able to experience an aurora.
Absolutely agree. Was such a treat for those who do not live closer to the poles. The fact that it was visible in the far north just goes to show what an amazing event it was.
Holy Mackeral Logan,
That time-lapse video is amazing and the one burst of vivid red was awesome. Well done

Great captures
Light pollution :)
Thanks. It's a shame you had too much light pollution. Maybe travel to a darker location like we did - it was worth it. CS
