    My 2 year old son and I enjoy watching your videos of the animals and tractors at work on your farm. Word of advice: upgrade your camera when you can. Your videos are noticeably more grainy than most other channels we watch.

    MINNESOTA MACHINERY WAS GOOD BECAUSE IT TAUGHT PRISONERS HOW TO WELD AND MAKE STUFF AND THEY HAD SKILLS WHEN THEY GOT DONE SERVING TIME SO THEY WOULD NOT BE A BURDEN TO OTHER PEOPLE.

    Very very nice looking equipment shape they are in being that old means were well cared for and not abused my friend in fact they will hang with any newer stuff out there today believe me, in fact likely better than computer and def. diesels you are now forced to buy and use today looks like money well spent young man.

    IF YOU CAN RUN AND GET BY WITH THE OLDER EQUIPMENT AND OPERATE EFFICIENTLY THAT IS REALLY GOOD AND KEEEP YOUR OPERATING EXPENSES DOWN AND KEEP DEBT DOWN. ALWAYS BETTER TO BE PAYING DEBT ON LAND AND LAND IMPROVEMENTS RATHER THAN MACHINERY. EQUIPMENT DOES WEAR OUT. REALESTATE WILL ALAYS BE THERE IF YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF IT AND BUILD UP THE FERTILITY.

    Congrqts, i got a 7000-74 and its a great traktor with 94 hp sae and the 7700 is 97 hp sae. Seen prices in USA on both of them and they are low in those amazing conditions they would ve worth a lot over here in europe.
    Great purchase and good luck with all equipment.👍

    Hey Curt. Just found your channel. Look forward to your fieldwork plans. My wife and I both worked off the farm for many years while building our cow/calf operation. Retired and farming full time three hundred acres in central MN. Id suggest a modern cab tractor with FWD and working heat and AC for baling and tillage. ( and a buddy seat for a little helper) You’ll thank me at age 50 when you can still breathe😊

    If I was in your position I would be sorely tempted to consolidate down to the 3 Ford tractors and yellow loader. The Perkins MF should fetch a pretty penny for the engine alone - you could then use the money to modernise your implements / buy other fords to canabalise to keep your ford fleet going.

    Those old fords will be running long after any new tractors are dead and gone. We have a 6700 with a loader. It’s got over 8000 hours.

    just saw the tillage video, you need to invest into a of clamp-on duals for that 7700, give the il' girl a fighting chance with some more grip and she'll good.

    Hello Kurt, I am excited to see how your farm grows. I do have a question, why in the video with the cattle did you have the calf tied to the pole? Is that because you don't yet have a calving stall that keeps the calf in one place? Curious why. Look forward to more stories and adventures. Also, there is nothing wrong with old equipment for sure. I grew up on a farm in north central Illinois and know all too well the trials of old machinery. The good thing for us was that my father could make anything work with baling wire and a set of fence pliers. Take care

      I would like to know this as well. It made me uncomfortable but maybe there’s a reason. I follow Farmer Tyler Ranch so maybe I have my expectations too high. And definitely not a ring in the nose. 😂🥴 but I subbed anyhow cuz I support good young families taking on their family’s farms ❤

      @@allysonh6410expectations too high because of ftr? You mean like letting his cattle wade around in knee and belly deep 💩 every wet season because he is overstocked ? If you’re ok watching that you should be fine !

    Going no-till or minimum till won't you have to use a lot of chemicals to control weeds? How does that effect an organic rating or claim or is the organic title just something as a marketing gimmick?

    • @YourFamilyFarmer
      @YourFamilyFarmer  4 місяці тому

      The organic title is not a gimmick. It involves lots of paperwork and inspections to be certified. To do minimal and no- till while being organic will have its challenges, however, thru the use of cover crops and proper rotation I believe it can be done. I'm sure I'll have some triumphs and failures. Stay tuned.
