I've heard each recommendation here and there on different sites but this is the first that has tied them all together in one neat package. So helpful to this 74-year-old student of jazz piano. Thank you!
Great lesson. Kudos! A lot of no nonsense real important skills. Just found out your channel yesterday but already got more applicable input here than from a lot of other UA-cam channels. Hope you continue sharing this outstanding material.
Thank you for all the content, Tim. I just discovered your channel a few weeks ago. As a saxophonist, I am doing most everything you mentioned in this video, but I’m struggling the with incorporating new language into my playing. For example, during the last 3-4 months I’ve been really focused on altered and diminished sounds. At first, I spent about 4-6 weeks playing the crap out of those scales, chords, & exercises until I could play them in my sleep. Now, I’m working on a few specific altered & diminished lines over ii-V-I’s, transposing them in all keys, and forcing them into my improvisations. But, if I don’t force it, it’s like I don’t even know it. This has been happening for the last 8-10 weeks on only a couple of lines. I know I need to be persistent and patient and keep at it every day, but new language feels very stubborn for some reason. However, I find your lessons very inspiring and they help me to focus during my practice time and keep at it. How long does it take for you to incorporate new sounds into your playing?
Just keep going. No need to force it. The things you really want to play will come out. Just keep sticking with one concept at a time, just like you’re doing. If it’s not happening the way you want, consider break the lines down into even smaller chunks and try to work in the smaller bits. 👍🏻🙏🏻
Great video! I'm waiting for next one. Also I'm asking about some lessons for total beginer like utility series and maybe some motivation speaks :D Because I think that my life is too short to learn that all jazz :)
I really hope you find these skills / tips beneficial. I'd love to hear your thoughts on these.

That means a lot! I'm glad it's helpful.
This knowledge is gold to me. I will get a keyboard, I’m sure it will help me to become a better bass player. Thanks.
