I got sad for your sad orchids. Don’t give up on them. I am sure you can bring them back. 👍

I thought I was a pretty rough and tough old girl, but orchids have taught me a few things. More patience, more forgiving and to never give up. My big girl orchid that my daughter gave me when I was forced to retire,( due to illness) had a leaf that was so dehydrated that I didn't think it would recover. I mean for months I tried everything. Soaking it in tea... finally last week, I noticed that it had firmed up! Getting firmer every day! Resilience is another thing this orchid has taught me. She is a big 14 or 15 year old. 14 inches across. I'ma see if I can get the new leaf coming to get her to 20 inches. Never give up. Keep trying. If you fail. Try again. Anyone that has never failed, has never tried. ❤

I sincerely hope you are healing well and enjoying your days! I find solace when I am with my orchids and seem not to feel my pains and hope you do too. It's not that I don't have patience when it comes to the sad Phals, it's really about the space and I know that the Phals are easily replaced and not too expensive, if I choose to replace them. They give me joy when they do well and I do feel a since of sadness when they fail. I really do feel that the ones I lose just didn't like me for some reason, lol. And trust me when I say I have failed at many things over the years but take it as growth.
Thank you for taking the time to comment and watch the video! I hope you have a great day!

Hey there Kyle! I’m loving phals lately! I have a little obsession here. It’s Melissa from Miami. I have heard that Schillirianas like to stay more moist than normal phals. Maybe you can try more water. Maybe stick her in moss. 🤷🏼‍♀️. I hope it works out. 😊

Hi Melissa! Thank you for taking the time to watch my video! My schillerirana came with only one good root and already looking bad. I should have sent it back but alas I did not. It is in a mix of bark and mostly moss. I may have to take another look at its root again so it would be repotted again. The one new root it grew seems to be dying. Time will tell. Thanks for the advise though and it just may have to go into all moss. The hybrid schilleriana is actually doing well. Go figure. Thanks again! Have a great day and happy growing!

Im jealous of those big ole strappin leafs!!!! Im working on getting mine to grow that stacked and big. I have a 15 year old that is huge and im starting to have trouble moving her at feeding time! So, what are you feeding your orchids????🧐 Ive started mine on a little more CalMag and Kelp. Like Rick L said, Snacks in the fridge and small frequent amounts. I have mine in lava rock, charcoal and pebbles.

I do have a couple that don't like me, lol! Because of Rick L I got myself a TDS meter and now measure out my fertilizer every week more precisely. I use 300 ppm of fertilizer with 50 to 150 ppm of CalMag and every couple of weeks I will add kelp additive, 1 tbsp per gallon. I would say my ppm's are a blend of what Rick does and what Nina does at Nija_Orchids.
My potting mix has evolved over this past year and I combine nark with leca, charcoal, pumice stone and lava rock for my Phals. I use straight up lava rock or rocks and leca mixed with charcoal for most of my Catts and Dens.
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and commenting! I do appreciate it!

Hey! We have very similar feeding recipes. I try to keep my ppm below 300. My filtered water is 55 ppm. I wish it was lower like rain water. I still make it work. Mine get 150 ppm of MSU and the rest is CalMag and Kelp. I flush my pots with CalMag, too. Small amounts all the time. Often. Love your videos. Keep growing! 💗@@MrKylesorchids

Thank you for watching! I do appreciate it! My schilleriana decided to give up and die. The hybrid seems to be doing well.
