I too, make mustard pickles. It was my mom’s recipe, difference is we use fresh yellow beans , fresh garden cucumbers, onions and cawliflower and red pepper for color. Tumeric and a bit of dry mustard. I also make relish which I use the standard cabbage, cucumbers onions and pepper. Cook and put in Mason jars.
I am born and raised in Ontario but my uncle is from Nfld. I grew up eating delicious mustard pickles/vegetables, I love them so much. They are hard to get at most stores here, but thankfully they can be found! Love your videos!
Oh my goodness I love you mama. That's just what my mom used to do. Adjust and add as she went. Don't ask for the recipe because it might be different every time. She would taste test as she'd go. Mmmmmm I can taste it now. I would need a full bottle with fish cakes. Lol Keep on cookin'. We love you and your channel ❤❤
I make mustard pickle myself. It’s my grandmothers recipe. She used silverskin onions in hers along with gerkins, peppers(red and green) and cauliflower. The other thing she did was add some curry powder. Just a bit so you have a faint taste of curry. It turns out amazing. I’m the same as you and make it to taste. I really need to write it down next summer. I have never put cabbage in mine but I will be doing that next year! Thanks for the tip.😊
Glad you enjoyed them, they are good that's for sure. Where hoping to try some different types of pickles later this winter. Hopefully we can get our moose and have some bottle moose, but it's getting late in the season so it's not looking good
That's how you definitely increases your chances. It actually means a lot to the people doing all the work and paying for all the cost and the bottles are not cheap so people really do appreciate when the bottles are returned, trust me, they don't forget the ones who returns the bottles, nor do they forgot those who doesn't return the bottles 😂
