  • Newfoundland pea soup with turkey necks is a robust and comforting dish that hails from the rich culinary heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. This hearty soup brings together simple yet wholesome ingredients, creating a flavorful and satisfying experience for the taste buds.
The heart of this dish lies in the combination of dried split peas and tender turkey necks. The peas, whether soaked overnight or quick-soaked, contribute a creamy thickness to the soup as they break down during the cooking process. The turkey necks, simmered to tenderness, infuse the broth with a deep and savory flavor, creating a base that forms the soul of this traditional Newfoundland fare.
Accompanying the peas and turkey necks are an array of aromatic vegetables. Chopped onions, carrots, potato and turnip, lend their distinct flavors and textures.
As the soup simmers and melds its flavors together, the kitchen is filled with an irresistible aroma that evokes warmth and home. The resulting broth is thick and hearty, providing a comforting backdrop to the tender pieces of turkey neck meat that have been carefully incorporated back into the soup.
Served piping hot, Newfoundland pea soup with turkey necks is often enjoyed with a side of crusty doughboys or the traditional "touton," a fried bread that adds a delightful crunch to each spoonful. The dish not only nourishes the body but also carries with it a sense of tradition, connecting those who savour it to the culinary roots of Newfoundland's vibrant culture. Whether shared with family or savoured in solitude, this pea soup is a celebration of simplicity, flavor, and the enduring warmth found in a bowl of homemade goodness.

I'm new to this channel and so far you've made all my favorites, goulash corned beef hash, baked beans and now my absolute favorite split pea soup. I never would have thought of putting turkey in there.

Father got to have his turkey necks. They slowly cooks, so the meat is very tender and extremely flavorful. Thanks for watching..

Dad, as allergies to tomatoes, if he didn't, he would probably want turkey necks in that soup as well, hahaha

Don’t the turkey necks breakdown and spread bones throughout the broth
