I haven't been taking on new projects lately but I made an exception for this mystery wood from Oregon.
It kind of looks like Winnie the Pooh!

Yay, the mystery is solved! What gorgeous material, thanks so much for sharing this. That's pretty exciting about the metallic inclusions, can't wait to work some. Cheers!

It's so pretty, I can't wait for my diamond wheels to come in so I can try to polish my piece of it.

Grade A polish on A++ specimens
The soft spots took away from the polish, but the polish is definitely awesome!

You must be only going to one of those prep schools if you think that is only a B+. The polishes turned out great.

      I am very picky lol
I've been told I spend too much time worrying about the smallest details

@@WorldofRockhounds It is good to strive for it and you work on some pretty good stuff, like the fire obsidian, which shows flaws readily. But, as I learned when I started doing the machining hobby, you can strive for perfection, but live within tolerances. You never know, one of your rocks could help get us to Mars.

You did good. Not much you can do about the undercutting. Super polish.

    A polish. Beautiful
I do not think it is wood. I see folding, and wood doesn’t fold.
Just my take, and your gut reaction.

It is wood. I have several other pieces that I've worked with one being a partial round and I recently cut a knot out if a different chunk.

I think the wood was rotten and coming apart before it was petrified .
