Will never ever understand why the bass was always mixed low on Metallica records. I have a couple of theories but would rather hear the opinions of others. This sounds AMAZING though!!!
My two cents: Working hard to finish the book by Halloween, so releases like this are a nice change of pace/welcome surprise as I write and illustrate! While a bit of raw power is taken away from the guitars-or-nothing approach of the original mix, the most immediate difference, here, are the drums. In the original mix, they're pounding but muddy and tend to get lost in the storm; in your version, I can hear every tom, snare and double kick through a highly balanced mix (the double bass, in particular, being a total delight). In short, nothing is too quiet or loud, the clarity of the individual instruments working in harmony to give a united, concise attack. This goes for the lyrics, which sound enclosed by the other the instruments but not caged by them nor shouting over them; meanwhile, the bass and guitars fit together like a glove-Cliff not being too loud, but still having a chance for his melodies to be heard when he isn't Atlas holding up the world. Criticisms are obviously scant, but there *is* a scream at 5:40 that sounds a little distracting. Overall, though, this remix/remaster is about as good as it gets. Clear without too much polish, it pounds to the core but goes down easy. Some of your best work! \m/
Not even a minute in and banging like a headcase. Post-listen thoughts: that execution footage added a level of detail which, when both are combined, is (and I mean this as a compliment creatively) hideously confronting. Humans can be monsters.
after the spider chord part whatever the bass is doing before the solo is hard to hear in the real mix you can still hear it well when kirk starts here
Gotta Give Credit Where Credit Is Due, That Solo Remaster Was Hell Of A Roller-Coaster! (Especially With The Execution Scene) Mr. Ahdy, You Are NARR! 🔥🔥🔥
Suberb work Ahdy! It's not one of those remixes that try emphasize certain instuments, like just bass guitar, but is genuinely a balanced and an improvement instead of just a curiosity. 11/10
this sounds absolutely incredible! all the instruments sound clear and it feels like there's so much space in the mix. metallica should hire you to remix their songs, you do an amazing job!
WOW!!!! This was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Ahdy, TOP NOTCH from start to finish. And the execution footage added in was the icing on the cake, just frickin AWESOME 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hmm I wonder if a comment in a previous video made this come up 😏 To me, this song has everything that made Metallica what made it SO good. Thanks for putting the essential version back on UA-cam.
I've been a Metallica fan for 30 years. I found this channel by sheer accident when I stumbled across the remixed version of Blackened. These are absolutely shit fucking hot mate.
Hello Andy! Your remasters are the real thing! Could you also do some Death songs? It's a shame there are close to no remasters of Death songs on YT with cool sound like yours, any thoughts? I'm sure you'd do a great job! Maybe start with Crystal Mountain? ;D
This version is better.Beautiful barrel sound and double bass. It was always annoying on this album to realize that in some songs there is an abundance of double bass, but the ears practically did not catch it. And now I can clearly hear all of Lars' work.
I agree it's fucking awesome, but fucking awesome isn't enough info for him to keep what works and improve what can get better. Constructive criticism from someone else can really help anyone improve their work.
Good lord.. 🤘 Every time there's a new remix/remaster added it feels like Christmas. Please please please upload you new mixes for us, i wouldn't mind donating some coins your way for that..
I've listened to this remix like 15 times and I think the work you've done is incredible. I have an idea for you to make a remix. I have always wanted to listen to No Leaf Clover as a studio version. I don't know if you can, but the result would be quite interesting.
Love Cliff's bass pounding like a monolith throughout this mix - fantastic work!
Will never ever understand why the bass was always mixed low on Metallica records. I have a couple of theories but would rather hear the opinions of others. This sounds AMAZING though!!!
all that's left is escape, and the whole album will soon be healed
Recommend checking out the Gojira cover version.
@@rodjason9397 One of the best Metallica covers out there, along with Chimaira's Disposable Heroes and Machine Head's Battery
Escape is such an underrated song. Idk why James hates it so much. One of my favs on the album.
@@rodjason9397so good
There is no escape, and thats for sure

There he is
There she is. Always love reading your take on Ahdy's masterful work
THE LEGEND!
bro, I fucking love your comments❤
Me too! I have been looking forward to reading again!
The intro was my phone ringtone for years
Bass is mixed just perfectly; it’s not overpowering, but still clear when it’s the only part moving (2:35 is a good example). Well done
He finally did it 😭 we’re blessed
Indeed
Not even a minute in and banging like a headcase.
Post-listen thoughts: that execution footage added a level of detail which, when both are combined, is (and I mean this as a compliment creatively) hideously confronting.
Humans can be monsters.
4:26 I always loved those last notes of the solo, the way this is emphasized here with the video, man I feel vindicated
I love how audible the growl of the bass is here. Excellent job!
after the spider chord part whatever the bass is doing before the solo is hard to hear in the real mix you can still hear it well when kirk starts here

Mr. Ahdy, You Are NARR! 🔥🔥🔥
شكراً يا غالي 🔥
Was literally just thinking how badly I wanted to hear this from you. Good timing with Beato's interview with Kirk too!
These are the most badass remasters. I can never stop replaying them. I waited so long for this one.
Same, the standard playlist for my car is his YT

Its amazing
"M-my two cents! ☝🏼🤓" *Gives full-length opinion nobody asked for*
@ascendancy4900 then don't read it if you are that worried about it lmao
@@ascendancy4900 same with your opinion.
To be fair, some of us actually liked the two cents person. As always, though, this is fantastic.
4:12 the harmony here is so audible now. Thanks for bringing one of my favorite riffs to life!
Love how tight the snare sounds, guitars are crunchier, bass obviously more prominent in the mix. Definitely one of your best reworks
They were just young boys writing this timeless metal.. thank you as usual for your excellent remixes
YES! I have been waiting for this one! My favorite song since 83. Great job bro!!!
Since 83?
since '83??? were you there when they played this song live before the releasing of the album????
@@space_kat1 Yeah I am old. Was there in San Fran in 83 when they played it live for the first time.
God damn this mix is beautiful

Would love a v2 of Fade to Black, with full outro this time, no fadeout
I have missed this so much! Thanks for letting us see and listen to it again! It is awesome!
Did he take it down?
@@chromebull884 it was taken down by UA-cam years ago
Ahdy's work on favorite album of all times? INSTANT LIKE!
I'm so glad you kept the scream. It fits so well.
OMG the one I have been waiting for! Thank you so much!
Long have i waited
fantastic job here. i love all your R&Ring on metallica songs
So glad to see you back at it. An amazing remix. It was like hearing it for the first time all over again.
Love this one, everything is perfectly balanced. I love all the remixes but the drums have been slightly too loud on occasion imo
I found it a bit loud too. I dropped a bit of bass end out of my EQ and it was quite a bit better.
I kinda like when he turns the drums up, especially the bass drum. I vibe way harder in my car
@@davidbrown6634 yea just a minor nitpick. I still prefer most of Ahdy's over the originals. Legend!

My two cents:
This bangs!
Glad you were able to post this again. I thought I was going crazy when I first found out when I couldn't find your original video anymore.
Iam so sad that this masterpiece does not get more views.
