As Babu said "Of all the superhero movies we've watched, this one had the best story".SO TRUE!!! This is an actual movie. Not just 8 billion dollars worth of CGI and guys flying around on a string in front of a green screen for the entire movie like Marvel movies.

Pretty sure there was a lot of special effects, blue/green screen and Chris flying around on strings in the Superman movies too. Inflation is a bitch though, amirite? If they had the technology back then they would have used it.

@@ll7868 Obviously Reeves was flying in front of a green screen. The point i made was what Babu said that there was an actual STORY that made it a classic great movie. He was basically shitting on all the dumb Marvel movies they watch. He appreciated Superman a lot because of the STORY. Every one of the Marvel movies have literally the same plot. Just insert new character and make the same movie. Also most of the technology was available in the 90's and later but yet practical effects were still heavily used because it looks better.

As demonstrated in this reaction video, the understanding of Superman's embodiment of decency, morality, and goodness is universal. There's a reason why the Man of Steel's sigil is the second most recognized symbol after the Christian cross. It doesn't matter what your background or upbringing is. Superman is for everyone! And Christopher Reeve played him perfectly! Reeve's characterization isn't just the gold standard for the Man of Tomorrow . . . He's still the gold standard for all cinematic interpretations of superheroes!

Some history... Superman was created in 1938 as a comic book hero. The character debuted in cinemas in a series of animated shorts beginning in 1941, and then was the protagonist of two movie serials in 1948 and 1950. An independent studio, Lippert Pictures, released the first Superman feature film, Superman and the Mole Men, starring George Reeves, in 1951.

There was the syndicated TV series - "Adventures in Superman"1952 thru 1958. The first 2 seasons were filmed in B&W, but seasons 3 - 6 were in COLOR. Just could not be broadcast on TV in color then, but could be as color TV began after 1965 if you had one in syndication.
UA-cam has a short video on its color series opener from each episode, some snippets from the show and Clark Kent, lois and others. Plus the closing of the TV in the video on UA-cam.

I love this Superman movie, it was the second movie I ever saw after Star Wars. I was 4 years old when I saw Superman in 1978 at our local drive-in theater. As far as I was concerned, Christopher Reeve was and still is Superman. Yeah, I was that little kid in the late 70's running around our neighborhood in a Superman costume. Leaping off our family home roof. One afternoon I jumped from our roof onto a couch we had sitting in the backyard. My feet went straight through it, the foam, the springs, everything onto the ground. Amazing I never hurt myself. Hence the power of belief lol.

Chris Reeve is still the best Superman. Sure the new ones look better in some ways, although Chris really nailed the flying motions better than anyone else had,but Reeve captured the spirit of Superman in a way that has yet to be outdone. As much as I like other actors like Dean Cain, Reeve is still the gold standard. Now in this age of DEI,ESG nonsense its difficult to believe that they could recapture the true heroic nature of this character. They would call it problematic for such a truly good and noble character to exist. Which of course is what communism does. It takes away heroes that stand for something greater in life.

The train scene was done by suspending the actor above the ground with wires. He ran in place, and they moved him, and used blue screen, or rear projection. I forget which one they used for that scene. His flying suit is actually a little green, in real life. Because they used blue screen for his flying scenes. This meant they couldn't use a pure blue.

    • @aldunlop4622

The Kryptonians were a spacefaring species, they can alter genetics which is how Clark and Kara left their atmosphere without turning into crystal shards of kryptonite, they colonized other worlds (see Daxamites) and they knew about the powers that yellow suns would give them, so why did they stay on Krypton where they were essentially powerless even if it wasn't going to die?

    • @ll7868
      @ll7868 20 днів тому

My theory is that they feared the Daxamites and the Daxamites were as powerless in a white dwarf system as the Kryptonians so they would never attack them there, out in space the Daxamites were more powerful, the Kryptonians were scared to leave their safe space because they were artists, musicians and scientists not soldiers like the Daxamites.

the funny thing is Batman is supposed to be a genis but a fairly normal one. Like hes got an excelent deductive mind but his IQ is in the 160s canonically. He doesnt create Ironman suits he makes trick boomerangs to fight regular guys but sometimes writers forget that and make him sad Tony Stark with fantasy super-tech. Heck hes even only the 2nd best Detective on Earth being Detective Chimp as well

“How powerful the live action Superman movie version played by Christopher Reeve is in 1978?”
IQ = Above average and educated.
Maximum strength level = Over 100 tons.
    Maximum stamina = Superhuman.
Maximum durability = City-level/Earth-level, and also withstand approximately 11,300 degrees Fahrenheit.

It seems there was some confusion. Superman can't read minds, that was just Louise inner dialogue. Also, he was not sent to Earth by his father as punishment, rather he was sent to survive as the last kyrptonion. Babu may have had what he said lost in translation, but just to be sure, he was sent to survive, not as a punishment.
