The first airplane is called a float plane because it has floats instead of wheels.
The second plane is a flying boat or amphibious plane. These aircraft were common in the 1930's and 1940's. They were often used for naval patrol, search and rescue.
The largest flying boat ever made was the Hughes H1, nicknamed THE SPRUCE GOOSE. This plane is currently on display at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in Oregon, USA.

I remember in 1981 me and my mum were doing some shopping in a mall in Belconnen Canberra ACT Australia, I was 7 years old. Mum wanted to kill some time and suggested we go see a movie. It was Raiders of the Lost Ark. What an awesome film, I was blown away. It was right up there in the same league as Star Wars. And when it first premiered on TV, I recorded it on VHS diligently pausing out the ads. I replayed that tape so much that by the end the tracking had gotten so bad it looked like Raiders of The Lost Blizzard.
Fun fact, Harrison Ford was suffering from a bad flu at the time of filming in Cairo so the scene where the Egyptian swordsman squares off with Indiana, Harrison Ford suggested to Steven Spielberg that he could just shoot him rather than do a fight scene which Harrison was not in the mood for. Steven agreed and it became one of the most memorable and funniest highlights of the film.
They have to see The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade next. Don't bother with the other movies, they're crap. Although I've heard The Dial of Destiny is not bad, still haven't seen it yet but I'm going to download it right now. For free of course. lol "Raiders of The Lost Torrents."

No police in 1936 Babu? lol just the rule of kings! He should really spend less time talking and more time listening as he often misses what is happening and later on doesn't really understand what's happening. For example here he didn't understand why "the sphere" (the head of the staff of Ra) was important here. Also Babu "there was no technology and there were no machines," next sentence he utters "and there were planes of that era shown." 🤣🤣
Still love him though of course! Also just a suggestion, when they refer to their own currency it would make more sense to us viewers to see what they are actually saying in ruppes than "3.59 dollars" that literally means nothing to us other than a random amount of American money

I just got back from a week-long trip to Los Angeles with my daughter. We went to the Universal Studios park.
They have rides and experiences drawn from ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Transformers,’ ‘Jurassic Park’ and others.
I would be so interested to see my friends experience things like this.
The rides themselves are amazing whether you’ve seen the movies or not but are better when you have.
My friends here have now seen many and I’ll bet they’d really enjoy something like that.
Are there any such places in India?
Also, I would HIGHLY recommend’Million Dollar Arm’ to my friends.
It tells the true story of the first two Indian players to be signed to an American sports league. In their case it was Major League Baseball.
A sports promoter traveled to India and had a competition to find athletes that could be trained to be Major League pitchers. He brought back 2, a right-hander and a left-hander who were coached by the University of Southern California baseball team.
    It’s a wonderful story.

The two young Indian men were both signed to a team exactly 10 months to the day that they first picked up a baseball. It’s an amazing story about following your dream no matter where you have to go to chase it.
Can you imagine the culture shock two boys from small villages in rural India had flying to Los Angeles and training at the world class facilities of USC?

I live in *Bradford* - The world's first *UNESCO City of Film.*
*JK Rowling* got some of her ideas for *Harry Potter* from *Monty Python's Flying Circus* (1969-1974) sketches, mainly one which filmed less than a mile West of me.
      That sketch includes:
1 - A man named *Harold Potter* which was clearly the inspiration for the name *Harry Potter.*
2 - An introduction to some characters called *Mr and Mrs Samuel Brainsample* which is practically identical to the introduction for *Mr and Mrs Dursley* in *Harry Potter.*
3 - A man at *Valley Parade Football Stadium* the home of *Bradford City AFC* wearing a scarf and a rosette in the clubs colours *Claret & Amber,* the same colours which are used for *Gryffindor* in *Harry Potter.*
Most films and TV shows do the majority of their filming at the same locations. They include:
*Keighley Railway Station* and the rest of the 5 mile long *Keighley and Worth Valley Railway* - 10.2 miles from me.
*Dalton Mills* - 10.1 miles from me (although a 2nd of the 4+ buildings was set on fire in 2022, so it's unlikely it will be used again, as it was apparently the main one used).
*Bronte Parsonage Museum* and the rest of *Haworth* - 10.1 miles from me.
*Salts Mill* and the rest of *Saltaire* - 5.3 miles from me.
*Cartwright Hall* and *Lister Park* - 3.1 miles from me.
*Undercliffe Cemetery* - 2.9 miles from me.
The *Sekhon Group Warehouse* and the rest of *Little Germany* - 1.9 miles from me.
*Bradford City Hall* - 1.6 miles from me.
*Sam Neill* from *Jurassic Park* filmed *Peaky Blinders* in 3 of those locations.
*Aasif Mandvi* from *Million Dollar Arm* was raised in my city.
*Darshan Jariwala* from *Million Dollar Arm* starred in *Eaten by Lions* which was produced by a company whose address is just 1 mile South of me. It was also partly filmed in my city, at locations such as *St Luke's Hospital* 0.7 miles North of me, where me, *Zayn Malik,* and no doubt other celebs from me city were born.
*Zayn Malik* from *One Direction* grew up 2 miles East of me, in the same area as *Lunar C, Melissa Streel, Gareth Gates* and *GK* from *Bad Boy Chiller Crew.*
*Rhythm Dhol Bass* aka *RDB* who have collaborated with *Snoop Dogg, Ludacris* and *T-Pain* grew up 0.7 miles West of me.
*RDB* also make music for *Bollywood* blockbusters.
*Bollywood* has used *Bradford* for at least 5-10 films which include:
      *1920* (2008), *Teri Meri Kahaani* (2012), *Welcome to Karachi* (2015), *1920 London* (2016), *Commando 3* (2019), *Brown Boys* (202?), and *Gold* (2018).
*Gold* which has the full title *Gold: The Dream that United Our Nation* is about India's hockey team winning a Gold medal at the *1948 Summer Olympics.*
*Odsal Stadium* the home of *Bradford Bulls RLFC* just 1 mile South of me, was used as *Wembley Stadium* in the film. They also filmed in other areas of Bradford such as *Dalton Mills* and *Little Germany.*

I think I heard them ask a question about the swastika. The villains in the film are Nazis. They took the already existing swastika, which these people are likely familiar with, and change the angle, and appropriated it as their own symbol. I think it was supposed to mean something like “the unconquerable” the way they used it. Either way, it was one item on a long list of cultural crimes that the Nazis committed. Of course, they must have seen it on the plane as well, just two or three scenes prior to that. The one on the crate was shown with an eagle, because it was a seal showing Nazi ownership of the box.

It's not the age of the movie that counts. You should give older movies a try, Lawrence of Arabia, Bridge over the River Kwai... Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments (that was put into the Ark of the Covenant) and so on. Some of those old movies are gold mines for their times.
About Hollywood, it's been recently unparalelled in stupidity as well...
Hydroplanes are completely our of fashion except for very small ones to ferry a couple of tourists from island island.
Back in the 20s and 30s hydroplanes were the precursor to modern long distance travel by plane, they needed no runways, no big airports. But they were dangerous, from some accidents as well as a cumbersome maintenance due to salt water, as well tech development, ground based aircraft finally won the competition.
The only relatively big hydroplanes we see today are fire fighting ones, based on ground but must come on water to replenish their water tanks before they drop it on fires.
At 20 min, here is the DC-3 (ground based) aircraft, the fist "modern" airliner. It was very successful and there was also a military transport version of if, the C-47. In some remote areas, some DC-3s are still flying today.
At 33 minutes, it's not a camera, it's a geometer, it helps you determine distances visually between two points, the one you are standing at and the one you are aiming the thing at, once the image is totally neat, the focus on point, you can determine the distance. Nowadays, we would use Lasers to do the same thing with evenmore precision.
The Svastika is the symbol of Nazi Germany in that time frame (from 1933 to 1945), of course that symbol has roots in Antiquity, India, Japan and Ancient Greece were using it a lot within more complex geometrical motifs.
Indiana Jones was supposed to be a simple and goofy adventure movie but in Spielberg's hands it became a masterpiece !

I found it really interesting to see people from a completely different culture, who don't follow any of the three religions from Abrahamic Mythology, react to this film.
They don't have the same cultural references as most people in either the Western World or the Muslim world (from their names, I think they're likely Hindu, if anything) and that means they miss some of the subtext.
For instance, the ceremony at the end was an ancient Jewish ritual from the days of the Temple of Solomon, and it was being performed by a mercenary who worked for the NAZIs -- so, yeah, the God of Abraham and Isaac decided to engage in some righteous smiting.
I also appreciate they seemed to get that the American government did the same thing as the Egyptians did with the Ark of the Covenant.
They didn't understand it; it was too dangerous to mess with, so the Americans hid it somewhere nobody could ever find it, again.
I do like that Babu was the more comfortable of the two with Marion's independence, though. 😀
