Just got the 2023 yesterday. Blown away. Coming from the last gen G80 to this is like jumping from a Camry to a Bentley. Ride quality is somehow even better, it's actually fun to drive, and the cabin is silent when at a stop. The last gen lacked a soul or something. It was solid and very pretty but it wasn't fun. This 2023 is the best car we have ever owned.
Just got one in the semi gloss gray with red int. Awesome car love it. Love the cameras, the top down especially. Drive and ride are amazing. The extended bottom part of the driver's seat that comes under your knees, that's really nice, very comfortable. Just got it tinted. Going soon to get nano on it.
I really liked the old steering wheel. It’s ironic that people complained about the wheel looking odd and old but now it just looks like any other steering wheel design out there. There you had Genesis trying to go against the norm and come up with a unique and interesting design and I guess it just wasn’t “safe” enough.
The reason why the steering wheel is different is because it is a sport. The regular version still have the same steering wheel. If you been knowing about Genesis, the sport always has a different steering wheel than the regular G 80 for clarity sake.
I wish they still offered the 3.8L naturally aspirated V6, with no Turbo lag and more Horsepower. They gave up using real leather on the dash, two years ago, I believe.
Jesus bmw and Mercedes gonna have their shit cut out for em. I had a 2017 G80 and let me tell you it was NICE. I traded it for a brand new 2022 RAV4 only because i needed AWD and higher vehicle.clearance. the vehicle was just too nice for me and my rough life style but maybe in a few more years I'll get another one
This 2.5T that puts out 300hp requires Premium gas, while the 2.5T they use in the Sonata N-line only puts out 290hp, BUT runs on regular gas. I would happily give up 10hp to be able to use regular gas.
@@TheRealSnakePlisken A Sonata is based on FWD platform while a G80 is based on RWD with AWD available. A G80 would have way better handling with the same engine.
Ive got my eye on this car, and the 10th gen Honda Accord 2.0t. To others it may seem like a weird 2 cars to watch, but in my eyes they are comparable.
Very interesting comparison. How did you come to that? I have a Accord 10th Gen Touring 2.0T and it's a great car, with lots of features and value. Perhaps in speed it could match a Genesis, probably surpass in engine and transmission refinement, but, I don't see how it could really measure up next to a G80 overall. I owned a 2013 Genesis (when it was still under Hyundai) and even then it was definitely a cut above anything from Honda. That old Genesis had many marks of luxury brands that Honda just won't put in their cars (and will save for Acura). Sound deadening and smooth suspension are the most noticeable, but also the interior quality and leather quality. And there are just way more features in a Genesis, of all sorts. Shouldn't the G80 be compared to an Acura TLX, if anything?
I traded in my 2022 GV70 3.5T Sport Advanced and get my new G80 2.5T Sport Prestige delivered Monday. First car I bought on the internet, phone calls and pictures from a dealer 90 miles away. Makalu Gray and the Red interior…I don’t know it’s so not my Brunswick Matte Green and Vanilla Beige I traded. The pictures are growing on me and I’m sure I’m gonna miss my 3.5 at times but I’m gonna dig 30 mpg on the interstate, work car. But the dealer I bought my GV70 a year and a half ago from 18 miles away, jacked up $6k OVER msrp a month after I got mine. I told him on my first free oil service that pigs get fed hogs get slaughtered. I had bought 4 cars from him in 5 years and I told him he’d never sell me another. I wasn’t lying. So that’s the long part of my answer. I asked my sales guy if I get ambient lighting and he said no 😢 My GV70 had it and it totally rocks. The lavender setting I programmed was my favorite against the beige cockpit. Free delivery and they take my GV70 back. So in a blink of an eye we went from my gouger dealer being piggy to now discounting $1k (big whoop) but I remembered the dealers that didn’t go piggy. This dealer $64,650 msrp $6,300 discount and still 2.5% Genesis financing. Two $1000 rebates expire this month and just had to go for it. Wasn’t going to look until next December but they gave me $51k on a trade with 31k miles on it…still shocked I got this deal 😉
I believe there is a pass through like the older g80 designs. Seats do not fold down as far as I know, but there is a pass through above the rear seat folding center console.
I test drove it and the driving experience is very dull ,heavy and quite and luxurious inside for sure but zero fun and the turbo lag is more of a laaaaaaaaaaggggg

Its an amazing engine
I got the real sport version the 3.5 tt with rear wheel steering. But about 8k more cost than this it also has a HUD

How quiet/comfortable is the ride while in comfort mode at highway speeds? Is there a lot of noticeable wind/road/tire noise?
Pretty close to zero. Nothing compares at this price point.
