Winds blow downslope at night, this is probably why it spread so fast.
When the sun comes up, and the winds shift to upslope, may help...

Actually, a very common wind and for this time of year, it can be called a predictable event...
I've lived in the area since 1952... just a few more people and homes have made it what we see now.
