I have 16 windmill palms from 2 foot to 20 Even though I live in south GA I just love the windmill and because of my location it's different most people have palmetto ,queen ,date palms and a few more so this sets my landscaping apart from all my surroundings . it's hard not to trim the fronds when they start looking a little bad but it helps the plant to leave them on as long as as possible especially the first few years I've noticed here if I give them a lot of sun they grow tall and slim with four to six hours of Sun the trunks get thicker and just a little shorter also with less son the leaves are a lot greener but it hardly gets below freezing a couple of nights a year in my location
windmill palms look so beautiful in every landscape, i don’t blame you! they grow at such different rates when it comes to how much sun they’re given, that’s true. And i feel ya on the trimming, but i do think a skirt looks pretty on a windmill 🤣
@@CentralVirginiaJungle well with the caveat that small palms can spear pull in wet temps under 21F and larger palms start getting damage under 12F and can die in single digits.
@@tntropics yep! its quite impressive to see how quickly they become hardy to cold temperatures once they get to a certain size. I've definitely seen a few smaller windmills come out a winter pretty damaged after lows in the upper teens.

yes that’s very true! down to between 0F-5F
