- Planted in 2004 and covered with a tarp each winter, this palm keep growing and growing. Each spring it starts off with a bare crown, but by summer, it is regrown and adds a lot of trunk each year. Overall height over 10 feet. 3/25/11.
Hey austin. ld love to see an update of your robusta, must be a bit bigger now since two years and 9 months ago when you uploaded this vid. Would also love to see vids of your yucca rostratas, waggies and trachy''s! Hope you and your plants are well.
Lost 3 of my Robasta here in Austin Tx. I covered them but this latest freeze got down to 7 degrees. Have purchased some replacements already. Thanks for sharing.

Yes.
Some palms expand when growing while others don't. For W. Robusta, It's just like the trunk on a tree--starts out smooth and then as the tree grows the trunk expands. But because it's hard and stiff instead of soft and flexible it forms cracks kind of like what earthquakes do to the ground when they strike.
Hey Austin... Interested to see the palms & backyard now! I follow you since you are in Little Rock & I am in Oklahoma City! Kinda the same zone. Sure would love to see everything now.
You need to make an updated video of the garden and pond!! I'm anxious to see it in the summer with all the growth!
hey austin any more updates on your palms it would be nice to see or know if your robusta ever got a full crown
looks great! how tall is it now?
@rubal85 I bought it at Home Depot as a 5 gallon plant back in 2004.
oh ok thanks, thats cool, i posted 4 i zone b i ga they from2-3 ft tall and this winter will be cold, wonder if it survives, i hope so
Great going dude, hey you're in Arkansas, right ? I just love your accent ! Hey at 2 minutes 13 in this video, there is a rather sad/sick looking palm, looks like a Pinnate (feather) style frond. What variety was that one, & has it recovered since then ? It looks like it already had many feet of trunk height, did you get it as an advanced size plant, or had you had that one for a long time ? Good going. Thanks from Catherine, at 43 Degrees South latitude, New Zealand, near the Pacific Ocean
did you planted from seed???
It was only a 5 gallon plant around 2 feet overall height. They grow fast!
hey i have a question how big was your W. robusta when you planted in the g
round????
супер!
these are the one that grow in like Wilmington NC, right?
I live in zone 7. How do you get this to grow?
how cold do your winter get? meaning the coldest.
It’s been 10 years.. update? How big is it now?
What state are you in
@InsanePalmNinja There are some people that do grow them that far north. Google the Hardy Palm and Subtropical Board. Lots of folks there can give you tips.
