- Here is video of us unwrapping a Windmill Palm Tree at my house. This tree has survived 2 winters. We used our new wrapping system that reusable year after year.

• How to wrap a windmill...
Here in zone 7 north Carolina we grow windmill palms no coverage in winter. Like to be against a house. Full sun. Good soil good drainage. Mic organic mulchplus mulch every year.
The windmill Palm does very well in the Southern New York area
How cold does it get where you are? Most varieties of Trachycarpus are hardy down to -15C / 0F and Trachycarpus Fortunei has been known to survive -20C / -10F in the ground without protection. Damage is usually minimal as well. I have never had winter damage on a Trachy here in the UK, but the coldest we get is usually about -7C. It handles that no problem. Wrapping might not be necessary.
We now have these palms in Halifax, Nova Scotia....and doing very well after three years in the ground.
My big one in the front did well. I did a Facebook live video on the zone pushers page if you want to see it. The ones in the back have damage but will be fine. I went pretty skimpy on the protection.
looks great! much better than last years
Nice video! I like it!
In Georgia, all you have to do is water it and your good. No protection! The coldest it gets here is 19F. Coldest I remember.
Nice video
All you have to do in Georgia is just throw it the ground next year it’s 6 feet tall when it was 4 feet last year lol
wouldnt wrapping the heart of the palm be enough. We have had low temps here in Germany down to -20C with highs around -5 for a week last year. and my neighbor has a 12 foot Trachy in his Garden..Alle he did was protect the portion where new fronds come out.
Island Wide!! What if I want to buy just a cover???? You're using??So I can ad later one more???
Kevin, we protected our windmill in your storage system which we purchased from you and followed the instructions to a T. Only the center fronds (new growth) survived. Can you advise? Thanks.
Looking good! I like your method! I've never used hydrogen peroxide. Not sure if that's necessary if the tree looks healthy?
should I use epsom salt on my other palms (Mediterranean, mexican fans and sabal)
How much will cost the wrapping thing??? Nice video!
I hate when people say branches. They are FRONDS. I liked and subbed though.
Hi. Windmill Palm owner here from Canada. I understand the hydrogen peroxide treatment, but could you please explain the salt treatment please. I understand that a copper treatment is also recommended. Thanks
The hydrogen peroxide will work on Sago Palms too?
I don’t need to cover my windmill palm, sabal palm or Cotton palm in Dallas Texas
