Every source for crime stats shows significant declines in violent and property crimes in 2023 with downward trends continuing in 2024. There was a surge during the covid years 2020-2022, but that was an anomaly. FBI data shows that violent crime rate fell 49% between 1993 and 2022, the same FBI data source also shows a 59% reduction in the U.S. property crime rate between 1993 and 2022.
