    I'm using thunderbolt 3 gen 2 docking station, with my X1 tablet gen 3, what I found is that, there's a Lenovo Application where you can setup a threshold for battery charging, so if the battery was setup at 90%, it will stop charging and will work with the power supplied by the docking station, at this time after I activated that option, I haven't had any issues with battery not charging, as it was becoming recurrent and had use the reset button, a few times

    I have a Yoga Gen4, and I during several times a day my battery is not getting recognized. (Still powers the laptop, but Windows and Lenovo Bar displays that it's disconnected.)
    Also it says plugged in, not charging. (What I noticed, that it's indeed charging in the background.) I tried the reset with the small button, sometimes it helps, sometimes not, but it's getting very frustrating.

      Hi János Dézsi, you can try reinstalling the battery drivers in Windows, that could help. Here is a nice little guide how to do it (www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/fixed-microsoft-acpi-compliant-control-method-battery-driver-issues/)

He unfortunately drained all the battery and now i dont know whether to perform reset or not.

    I have the same problem, I have been resetting the battery since February 2020, but the problem keep popping up again and again sometimes I have 255% battery life, then boom Unknown Battery...at times its battery low then a few minutes later 100%, it's really frustrating this happens in the middle of a presentation.
    I have done BIOS update, doesn't help. I hope LENOVO will address this General factory default problem. The reset battery thru the hole does not permanently resolve this problem.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 роки тому

      Hi Mike, have you call up Lenovo regarding the battery as it sounds like you have a faulty battery or bad battery connection. If your laptop is under warranty then give Lenovo a call but if it's out of warranty try opening up the X1 Carbon and just pull out the battery for 5mins or so then replug it back in. I show the internals in this video of the 7th Gen but most X1 very similar (ua-cam.com/video/-YScu9BaWeM/v-deo.html). If you open up the backcover carefully, on the battery itself near the top middle you will see printed a + and - (positive and minus) follow that cord to plug the battery from the laptop, you shouldn't need to remove any screws holding the battery just let that be disconnected for 5mins then replug it back in.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 роки тому

      Hi Sami Zaafrane, performing this reset shouldn't lose your data. You can give this a possible solution a go to try get the X1 going again if not then more than likely you need to contact Lenovo.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  3 роки тому

      It won't reset the hard drive, this is just for power but of course files you are currently working on if the computer is turned on, you might lose but for the files stored on the hard drive they should still be there after reseting the power.

      Can you boot into Windows 10 with the AC power plugged in? If so go to device manager and uninstalled the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" after uninstall then reboot the laptop and hope the battery will start charging up. Next is to open it up and disconnect the battery and have it run off AC power only , then plug the battery back in again to see if it charges. If uncomfortable to open up the laptop then I would be calling Lenovo support.
